Torn between recommending and not

So I've finally decided to write a review after being here for about 3 months. So here we go:

Pros:
- Nice spacious floor plans. All the other studios I saw were tiny tiny! Mine is pretty big and has lots of closet space. I love that. I also love the fact that my apt was renovated before I moved in. I got new carpets, new kitchen, bathroom.
- I never had a problem with parking. sometimes I do park farther away than I would like, but it's not a problem.
- Lots of entrances so I can choose the door to park close to
- Good location. Love being close to the city
- Grounds are clean

ok now the con list outweighs the pro's so here we go
Cons:
- No washer dryer. I was spoiled in my last place, I never do my laundry here (esp after reading that people are cutting holes in their clothes'' wtf'''), I take it to my boyfriends, but that is a pain
- LOUD! I dont think management can really do anything about this, although I guess if people reported certain apartments they could, but my place happens to be close to an entrance. Late at night I hear people outside chatting, smoking (yes it wafts up into my apt, it's gross). Sometimes I hear people outside in the halls. There are kids that run up and down the hallways. Once, I'm not even kidding, I was awoken at midnight to people screaming Korean karaoke. I was SO mad!

For the most part the walls and doors are thick so you dont hear them that much. But it can get irritating esp at night.

- Like others have said, the AC isnt the best. Yeah my floorplan is huge, but that probably means I need two AC vents, not one. But this isnt that big of a deal bc you can always get a fan.
- Whenever I have an issue I would have to call management multiple times before they come. This is a little irritating bc my last place was right on it when I needed them.
- Hello' Gates are broken. Have been since I moved in. Someone keeps breaking the main lock on the side door (tho management has fixed this) and most annoying is the call box in the north building has been broken for weeks. This means guests can't be beeped in.
- You have to request a guest parking pass before midnight. Otherwise office is closed and youre SOL

I think the biggest issue with this place is the tenants. I hear there was a roach problem, I havent seen any creepy crawlers since I moved in (knock on wood), but that's because I take pains to keep my place spotless. It seems like the tenants are not the cleanest, they write on the walls, tear signs off, leave trash in the chute area instead of throwing it down the chute or taking bigger boxes out.

Not sure if I would recommend. If youre not fussy on noise, go for it. If you are expecting some uppity yuppy place, go up to Clarendon or Ballston. Youre in the wrong area.

And now we have switched management. So we shall see what happens! Here's hoping for a good 8 months.

I used to live in The Wellington, and I've got a suggestion to help with the guest parking issue: When you get the pass, ask them to date it for as long of a period as possible. I think they can make the pass good for a week or two. The other issue is that there are often no guest parking spots available even if you have the pass. Here's a trick to get around that: If you know a guest is coming over and you are ever home in off hours (like say you're home on a monday afternoon or leave for work just a little later than others have already gone), move your own car into any spot on the street in front of the building (the spots that are open to anyone, tenants or otherwise, and there are often spots in the daytime when people have moved their cars to go to work). Then when your guest comes, move your car into the Wellington parking and they can take the street spot, no pass required. The other option is to move your own car into a guest spot and move it when your guest comes. Tenants are told they can't use a guest spot, but that is not enforced. I asked management about it because I had surgery and couldn't walk far and could never get a spot, and they said just take a guest spot -- they said if they see a car with a tenant's parking sticker on it in the guest spot, they will not hassle the tenants. Which is why so many who are just lazy park there and then there are no spots for guests. So I wouldn't advise parking there all the time as it's not fair to guests, but if you do have someone coming later in the day or evening and need a spot for him, I think there is nothing wrong with "reserving" the spot with your own car. As you said, there is ample resident parking in the gates and you can always find a spot when you move your car -- it may be far away, but there's always a spot. :)
