Living the Wellington is a whole lot of nothing special-

I had one good year here and then the new owner came in and has been making 'improvements'. Mind you, when I moved here in 2007 I was the first person to live in a newly renovated unit. The new apartments have carpet instead of the lovely hardwoods; flimsy wood veneer cabinets instead of solid, stylish laminates; cheap laminate doors on the closets instead of solid wooden or metal ones. Cheap, cheap, cheap seems to be what 'living the Wellington' is all about, except of course for the rent, which is not cheap.
The concrete front walks on all buildings have been redone with brick pavers. Twice. They apparently screwed up the first time on all of them. There are often men working to 8 or 9 in the evening in the buildings. They went from having electric meters for each apartment to employing the communal allocation method, by which they charge each apartment based on square footage and occupancy. This ensures that they are not responsible for electricity in common areas, and that the tenant's bill is increased significantly. Mine went up from between $25- $40 a month, to no less than $75 for a one bedroom single occupancy. The laundry rooms are always in disrepair under current management, and when you notify staff they tell you to contact the leasing company directly. They take absolutely no responsibility for ensuring that the machines are running properly.
The leasing staff are inept at best, and rude and dismissive at worse. The building manager is as elusive as Charlie , I've spoken to him on the phone, but he certainly never deigns to meet with the commoners as far as I've heard, and I couldn't pick him out of a lineup. His angels have difficulty fulfilling the most mundane of obligations- such as accurately completing and delivering promised paperwork. One girl constantly uses the manufactured word 'simular' which can drive you to distraction.
I won't sign a lease with them again, as rent increases by about 10% each year which makes them overpriced in this market and location. It seems fairly obvious that their focus is on attracting new renters, and not on retaining current ones anyway. The apartments are fine (although mice have been spotted recently), as is the fitness room and pool, however based on their marketing budget, they should be (and used to be) far better and you will be disappointed. And the staff, with the notable exception of the two lovely ladies who work in the management office, are categorically incompetent.

I like "elusive charlie"!
He coils like a tapeworm when he speaks - you wouldn't miss him.
