You probably wouldn't like it here

Years at this apartment: 2007 - 2008
Pros:
-Relatively inexpensive
-Location provides access to just about everything, even using public transportation
Cons:
-Public transportation a little inconvenient
-Only the property manager is responsive. The woman who works here is very nice, but highly unresponsive; any maintenance requests I give to her never get followed up on. The man who works in the office here is responsive, but can be insensitive and even rude at times.
-Rent in this area is VERY EXPENSIVE. I hate that about this place.
-Leases are very restrictive, requiring a 60 day move out notice period.
-Roaches rent here, too.
-Many of the apartments have very large, extended (read: immigrant) families living in them. This can be very noisy at times.
-Utilities are not based on renters usage, but total utility bill for building is divided up among each apartment based on the sq ft of the apartment. I have a studio and I never keep the lights on or cook much; I know I don't use $80-$100 month in gas, electric and water
-On weekends, the laundry room is always full from morning till night. The people that use it are, I'm assuming, from those densely populated apartments. They often take up all of the washers in the laundry room all at once. There are like 7-8 washers in this room.
-Because of the population density issue mentioned several times above, parking is available, but there are not many spots. Also, the apartment complex uses a towing company that is very aggressive in towing. I don't own, but sometimes rent a car. The tall man that works in the office acts like he doesn't like to give out parking passes; I have been towed once before. The nice woman who doesn't pass on maintenance requests is always very nice about giving out parking passes.
