OK - Not Bad but Not Amazing

In general I don't have too many complaints about this apartment complex. The only real issues I had during my time there were with other tenants and the apartment complex's issues with dealing with them. In my building, people would walk to the nearby grocery store (more on the stores in a bit) and leave the carts in the stairwell area and on the grass outside the units. I also had an issue with some individuals leaving their trash outside their front door for several days/weeks before finally moving it to the dumpster/compactor. Lastly there were several abandoned/non-working cars that took up spaces close to the units and it took over 6 months for them to be towed. My neighbors tended toward the occasional vocal argument and I could hear them from my daughter's room (I had the two bedroom with den that was 1300 sq foot if that'll help with the floor plan), but they didn't reside there too long.

Other than those complaints, everything else was pretty good to average. Our view was nice as we overlooked the pool. I was the first tenant to live in my unit so the carpets, appliances, paint, etc was all new. Other than the aforementioned noise problem, the apartment was very quiet. I lived in one of the top floor units so I only shared one wall with other tenants. I never heard anything from below. The vaulted ceilings did quite a bit to open the apartment up and make it seem much larger than it was. The see-through fireplace in my unit was awesome. I loved that feature and it really added some great ambience whenever I hosted dinner parties.

This complex backs up to a shopping center that includes a bicycle shop, water, barber/salon, several restaurants (including Asian, Mexican, American cuisine), a Harris Teeter, and Homegoods. There are probably more there now as it was all opening while I lived there. If you re not buying much, it makes for some easy exercise. On summer nights it is great to walk over to the restaurants for dinner.

Overall it was a pretty good place to live (especially compared to some of the other complexes I ve inhabited). The only reason I moved out was because my company sent me on an overseas assignment for 6 months. I didn t move back in because I ve grown lazy over the time that I was gone and I didn t want to deal with the extra 10 15 minutes living in Ashburn would add to my commute.
