The first 4 and half months that I had lived there, we're great. No noise issues, nothing. There are no roaches in the place or mold.
My problems stared when the neighbors above and next to me moved in. The walls ARE thin. The residents next to me, liked to play horrible music between the hours of 4:30 am and 7:30 am. They would also talk loudly, outside on the balcony, around 11pm to 1am at night. That wasn't as bad as the endless hours of pounding that I had to endure by the people above me, who couldn't walk light on their feet. They would walk around like elephants. They had no concept of holding your center and walking light on your feet. So, after they moved in, I couldn't get work done for anything. I went up to speak with them several times and they tried quiet to down, but still didn't get it.
My balacony was fine until they showed up, I once found someone's toenail on my patio table and some random dust and pet hair from their cat. After the toenail, I remved my patio furniture and used the balcony only when it was necessary.
Overall, if you have the top floor and no one noisy next to you, then I say go for it. If not, and you don't mind getting no sleep, go for it, but if you need a quiet place, then this is not the place for you. I realize all apartments contain noise, but this one takes the cake.
Be forewarned I was in Building 19 # 206.

Also whenI left, I specifically called the office and asked if I needed to call all of the utility companies and let them know that I moved. The girl at the desk said no, and that the they, the Ashborough, would tell them, because the utilities would get changed over into the Ashborough's name. Man, was that girl clueless, not only did was she wrong, but they had me billed for untilities for the month after I had left. To make a long story short, but i had to call all 3 of my utility companies, explain that I had moved out. Where upon they had to verify it with the ashborough. Ddepending upon whether or not someone was answering phones, it took too much time for the customer service operator to wait and call them back to get ahold of the ashborough, and finally verify that I had moved out. The whole debacle was a mess, and further more, if you overpay ista, the water bill company, they give your credit to the ashborough.
I agree with JPatrick who wrote that, "there are two guys who sit in a purple scion every other night playing techno music for at least an hour at a time..." It's true. I vivdly remember feeling like someone was in their car with the teacho on too high. Usually when this happend, it's someone driving by, or on the road, and can be avoided. Nooooooo! The base pumping of that car went on for an hour at a time, randomly, almost evrey other night. It was annoying and the car wasn't even in my lot, but I could hear it from inside my apartment. No one from managemnet obviously took care of this.
Luckily, I didn't have a down payment, because the ashborough then tried to bill be $60 for carpet repair, without a walk through. They said that the renter has to ask for a walk through. I lucked out, because the lease was over and they didn't have any way to bill me because they didn't ask for any money from me when I moved in. Be warned that if you're moving out, they will conduct their own walk through, unless you ask them for one, then bill you for whatever they feel like later.

I am going on my second year now and the management here has gone through four manger changes. Also the staff has changed more then that so that could be a problem trying to get anything solved. But since the new manager came on board the last few months she has made progress. She can have attitude but I can deal with it if things are getting done. The grounds are looking nicer and the trash area is much cleaner. The noice is a problem here; I live on the bottom floor and the person upstairs is very noisy and this past week I noticed cigarette butts outside my patio. I called the office about this and the problem seems to have stopped so the manager is making every effort to comply with tenant issues. We also have someone blaring music at funny hours at night and management is aware of it but for some reason cannot find who is doing it which is odd since many tenants are complaining about this. Emergency maintenance can be a hassle but it looks like managment has hired more staff so hopefully that will help. Overall this is better then the last place I lived at where I had to cut my lease and go because of very poor management, trash piling up to where rodents where everywhere and you couldn't get near it because of the stench so from my stand point I am happy here. Yes, the noise can get to me but no matter what apartment you live at noise will always be an issue.
