Years at this apartment: 2007 - 2008

I have read the bad reviews on this site but needed to chime in. First, I am a tenant, and a very happy one. I have lived here for a year and have had enjoyed every minute of it. I live by the pond and it is very quiet. I have dogs and love the quiet so I have a "sound machine" from Hammacher Shlemmer (I recommend these to ANYONE that lives in an apartment). Also, the Ashborough is one of the most convenient apartment complexes that I found. It is right behind the Harris Teeter Shopping Plaza and has a walking path that goes all the way around it. It is great!
I speak to the maintenance crew and management whenever I see them and have never had an issue. The idea is "get to know where you live"!
Basically, people need to understand that apartment life is what it is. Sometimes you will have a neighbor that wants to bound their feet, sometimes a faucet will leak, sometimes you won't find a parking space close by and sometimes a dog might bark on a patio. Nothing is perfect.
But..... this is pretty darn good in my opinion based on many that I have seen.
Come and have a look! I recommend it to anyone I know.

I am happy for you & you are right it's apartment living & not all things will go your way. But it's over price for the amount you pay because the appliances are very cheap & the turnover there is high but with that say you like location, a place you can have pets, (most don't clean up pet waste here) & don't mine paying high rent then this place is for you.

The apartment is OK but some of the people who live here are not good neighbors. Short of having security patrolling the place there is not much the management can do about it. I have one great year of nice and quiet. The other 3 leases of the apartment on top of me are neighbors from hell. The worse are people who work from home. They are there all the time and if they make excessive noise all day long and late into the night there is not much you can do about it. Some people when they walk the whole ceiling and everything in my kitchen cabinets vibrate. Cooking noise can be anything from the stepping stool being dragged back and forth on the kitchen floor 20 times to the beating of the bread dough with a rolling pin twice a day. Snoring can start anywhere from 11 PM and does not stop until after 8 AM the next morning. Is there a guideline on what normal living noises are? Trash disposal areas are always in a mess because some people don't seem to know what is appropriate for recycling. Take out containers and paper plates that has lots of food left on them are left on the floor when the containers are full for animals to tear into them. Some people will walk their dogs right by your patio and let them stop to pee and poop on the grass and don't bother to take them to the designated area and pick up after their animals. They think nothing of you not being able to open your windows or sit on your patio because of the smell and the pee killing the grass. Kids can be out of control during school holidays. Raising hell on the breezeways, playing in the parking lots and destroying the property. Parents don't seem to care where their children are even when they are too little to be out there alone. I have talked to a lot of people -- this seems to be the problem everywhere. You can't really get away from it unless you can live in a single family home.
