We love our apartment layout and space. But not the paper-thin walls. Or the lack of insulation. Which results in really high heat bills. And the staff is kind of wishy-washy. Sometimes they're nice sometimes not. Plus when our ceiling was leaking water really bad it took them weeks to fix it. The construction is really quite shoddy. Our place has a loft which is really great, too bad it's the only warm room in the place.
Right now our water suddenly went out and we can hear the pipes doing funny things in the walls. Sounds like we're on a boat. That's not good. This will be the second time in a year that our water has inexplicably went out. We called maintenance and they've written it down and whatnot but who knows when or if they'll come out to look at it. I'm just hoping the pipes in the walls don't burst. Last time this happened I didn't get to shower before work one day and had to brush my teeth at the office and stuff. Ugh. It sucks.
Also any time after 11 p.m. I usually have to park halfway across the complex. The lighting in the parking lots could be better. I sometimes get creeped out walking across the complex late at night. Someone spit all over the side of my car during the last couple days and sometimes people leave garbage strewn across the parking lot. People neglect the stop signs in the complex all the time so drive defensively.
The appliances are pretty great. There's a gas stove. And the bathtubs are huge. Once you shower anywhere else you'll feel claustrophobic. We got a decent deal for the place. It's 1,080 square feet and we pay $1,181/month for rent. Part of the reason for that is that we moved in the winter, when it's generally cheaper anyway.

Oooh, you just reminded me. They were charging us about $30/month for our water/sewer bill and recently they doubled it because somewhere in their computer system there was a "mistake" that wasn't charging us for two occupants. What a crock! They said they were going to be nice and not back charge us for the past year. How lovely. Not my problem! Their problem!

I totally agree: the water outages are horrible the last one lasted for days...renters should have been compensated for this. My apartment had massive electrical problems something to do with faulty wiring. Also the parking situation...people double park or have way too many "visitors". so anyone who works late, has to walk quite a distance (and its kinda dark, the street lights do nothing). Ive been here since '07 and when we renewed the lease the payment went up another $100/mo so now its over $1300/mo 1bd w/loft...we will not renew if the rent gets raised again!
