I was reading some of the other reviews, and it seems I've had a much better experience here than some other people. I've lived here for 2.5 years and the only reason I am leaving next month is because I got a job in Arlington and want to live closer to work. Now that I am apartment hunting, I realize how important these reviews are! That said, I'll try to give a well-balanced review of the pros and cons of this complex.
maintenance: A lot of the complaints were about maintenance. I, personally, have had no problems with maintenance. There were a couple of months when they had a staff shortage, and took longer to get to things. But in general, when I call in a maintenance request, they take care of it within a few days. They recently started calling to follow-up on each maintenance request.
bugs: I've never seen a roach and rarely any other bugs. I'm on the third floor though, so that could make a difference.
apartments: the apartments themselves are really nice and clean, in my opinion. And they're a pretty good price for this area. However, I agree with some of the comments that the walls are paper-thin. I can hear my neighbor talking on his cell phone all the time. I am lucky that I don't have any loud neighbors, so it's not a huge problem for me. I especially love the private balconies.
the area: I feel really safe in this area, especially being right next to the police academy. I also like how close it is to route 28. The downside is that there are no stores within walking distance. But if you have a car, there are tons of stores close by, including Harris Teeter, Safeway, Borders, and the Dulles Town Center mall is just minutes away.
parking: The parking is great. I never have a problem finding a spot, and guests can park there too.
pool: I go to the pool almost every day when it's open. It's really nice--all new chairs and tables. It's never very crowded either.
All in all, I really like it here. One complaint I have is that they raised my rent about 10% each year. My rent increases more than my salary! Also, they are really strict about the lease. Whether you are on month-to-month or a year lease, you have to give them a 2 month notice to leave, and you are not allowed to sub-let. But I guess that's pretty standard for apartment complexes.

I think it is nothing short of outrageous that you can validate such an excuse. This is one in the line of many excuses they provide including 'New tenants are moving in;'. How is this an issue/problem for a tenant? They choose not to hire outside contractors to compensate for THEIR own issue. The tenant should not suffer because of their shortcomings. I am in a 1BR 1 BATH and it was not working for over 5 days. I was given the same pitiful excuse even though I believe I was facing an EMERGENCY here. I took it upon myself to hire my own plumber, and bill the landlord, which I am entitled to by law. Their response "We do not know how this works." My thoughts: not just incompetent, but dumb as well. It took me over 4 months of battle with the headquarters to get my rent pro-rated.
Spare me please...u probably work for the company!
