The apartment with the LOWEST quality-to-price ratio

I am currently living in Foxridge apartment, which is almost the most expensive one-bedroom apt. you can possibly find in Blacksburg. I'd like to move out immediately if "allowed", but unfortunately, as the lease has been signed, we have to stuck here for another year! There are two major reasons that I hate this apartment so much.
First, the one-bed room apartment we are having now is almost deprived of sunshine, although it is on the top floor and called "south-facing", and we are charged for additional rent for having a third floor apartment which is supposed to have better lighting. The bed room can receive 2-hours of sunlight per day only during late summer. The living room literally can't receive any sunshine. It is so dark, and we have to keep lights on even during summer noon. The balcony, an old-styled wooden structure, surprisingly can NOT receive any sunshine at all because of an extended dark sun-shield on top! All my plants grows into a thin, long and weak shape. I am no longer giving them more plant food, since them can't digest that without sunshine! I checked around, the bad lighting is not only happening to our apartment, it is common in Foxridge.
Second, Pet!! I have a cat, and they charge for $200 non-refundable pet attendance fee (without doing anything, they are even not asking for any formal documentation regarding your pet, they will not take special care for your cats when they do extermination, they do not keep photo of your pet, they never ask to see their rabies record, so basically duty free on their side, as long as you give them your money, they smile), plus a $100 deposit, plus a $10 rent increase each month. OK, as they ask, I paid all of these. But they never tell you that any other living thing with fur will be charged another copy of all these money once they step into your apartment! So, if you help your friend to keep their cat for a single day in your apartment, a $200 fine! If some day, you picked up a lost cat and keep the poor thing in your apartment for a day before you go to a shelter, another $200 fine! Even if your neighbor ask you to keep their "registered" dog, as long as you bring the dog into your apartment, $200 fine! Thanks God they don't count the ants and bugs in the apartment as my pet!
Here is what happened to me: I am considering to adopt another cat. And last week I took the cat home to try to get along with my current cat. The new cat was here for two days and I sent him back before I make decision. Now, I received a $200 bill for the two days! When I go to talk with them, I was told I can either pay the $200 fine or register the new cat right now with the $200 attendance fee plus $100 deposit and $10 rent increase. I told them I haven't make up my mind in adopting the new cat, but I was forced to register him now anyways, otherwise I will need to pay the fine plus all the registration if I want to adopt him later. I checked the rent policy, it says pet below or above 40 lbs will be charged $200 or $400 attendance fee, and my two cats add up to be 23lb. But I was told I will have to pay all $400 since the number of pets counts 2....while, this can be found nowhere in the contract. Then we talked about moving out, that is the time I realized that we just renewed the lease for another year last month, so if we move out now, we either pay for all the rent next year or we find somebody else to move in for all next year. Aah, that explains all, we signed the extension, and we are not allowed to move out and it is time to ask for additional money, or force us to adopt a pet before we make the decision!
We just sent a check of $310 to their office for the poor cat, but I feel sick every time I think of the one more year that I have to spend in this apartment. I agree Foxridge has nice swimming pools and a beautiful pond. But I don't live in the pool or the pond, I spend time in my dark apartment! I am not suggesting any of my friend to move into Foxridge, they care about money, not you, not your pet. BTW: at this time(mid-June), Foxridge office is busying printing coupons to promote their apartments, while Terrace View, as we just called, has already leased all theirs. This shows you that people over time realize how bad Foxridge is!!!

You make it sound like no other complex charges for pets. They all do and right around the same rate. No complex is going to take care of your pet for you just because you pay a fee. Hell you have to pay a fee to even adopt an animal.
