Old and Expensive

Years at this apartment: 2006 - 2009

I lived in the undergraduate section of Foxridge until this past Spring when I graduated, and these apartments are extremely old and just terrible to live in.

Pros: The apartment was huge in size and had too much space that it looked empty even after moving in. This was great for my dog who loved to run around, but due to a con below he couldn't do too much running. Another pro about the apartment was that I didn't have to pay for water and heat. I know that Foxridge has started charging for water now (around $30 or so per month) but it was nice while I was living there.

Cons: The apartments' walls are very thin so I could hear anything going on above, below or next to me and the floors creaked constantly everywhere I walked. I couldn't go to bed until the people above me went to bed which was always around 3am because they partied all the time. Both of my toilets as well as the apartment above mine's toilets always leaked. This was a pain because I had to keep calling maintenance to fix it but it never was fully fixed the entire time I lived there. The people below me sometimes had to call maintenance to come fix my toilet because it leaked into their bathroom. When I first moved into the apartment, my rent was around $600 but when I came to renew my lease (I hate the hassle of moving), the new lease rent was $740. I sucked it up and stayed in the apartment with the $140 increase, but I thought it was ridiculous for them to charge that much when the apartment's quality was so poor.

Overall, I was not satisfied with paying over $700 for a crappy old apartment that was supposed to be "luxurious". Foxridge needs to either renovate the undergraduate area to make it at least tolerable for students to live in OR lower the rent because these apartments are not worth more than $700 to live in.
