I have lived in lots of apartments in the blacksburg area and oakbridge is by FAR the worst place around. You do hear everything (much worse than terrace view or any of the other apartment complexes) and they mow the lawn EVERYDAY at 8 am. Even on rainy days you cannot escape this nuisance because they also use some industrial vacuum to clean the hallway at exactly 8:15 am. The noise is like living inside a power plant!
If you are deaf, you still will have many things to annoy you in oakbridge. The buildings are very old and NOT taken care of. The ceiling in the bathrooms-mine and my neighbors'- are rotting and drooping. The carpet is crunchy like its never been steam cleaned. The shower and sink do not drain properly. The A/C cools only one room, so be prepared to sleep in the living room on really hot days. The fridge leaks water everywhere and makes this strange, loud popping sound. The oven always smells weird and sets off the fire alarm, regardless of whether there is a fire.
Pros- location & there are no bug infestations. (<-- shouldn't this be expected though?)
There are other complexes with just as great a location- you will be MUCH happier if you rent from one of those. I lived in a trailer park that was nicer than this, no lie. I would recommend living in your car over this crap-hole.

I saw your note online and wanted to reply. I too had some issues and all of us sound like the issues are the same. I am tired of people taking advantage of our hokie kids. I am a parent who is moving forward to obtain an attorney and would like to speak with many of you to include in a single case. I will need information in order to properly file a claim against the Management Firm behind Oakbridge Apartments for charging us misc fees and keeping the deposits plus some in order to fix normal wear and tear on the units.
Can you help me? My son is still down at Tech, but this issue has not gone away from last semester.
Please drop me an e-mail or call me so we can chat about this place and the issues that you had. It would be very helpful to prepare a case for all of us versus one of usĀ?
