I opted for the "upgraded" apt which they are offering to new tenants for a slight increase in rent/mo. This means the kitchen and bathroom had new linoleum laid down, carpet was placed in the rest of the rooms (it was linoleum in the past), and a new vanity, medicine cabinet, toilet, tub, and stove were put in. The floor plan is spacious and flows nicely. The bedrooms are quite large and the biggest one has a walk-in close. It is also one of the few 1 & 2 bedroom apartments I toured that had a large kitchen with a lot of cabinet space instead of a postage stamp one shoved in one corner of the apartment. I have a 2 bedroom apartment and rent is only $525 a month and includes water, heat/gas, & trash removal--this means my only other bills are for TV, phone, internet, and electricity. There is a nice laundry facility and the only way you can access it is with a key (ie residents only so it's not overcrowded or misused). The management staff is friendly and helpful. The mainteance crew does a wonderful job upkeeping the exterior and even shovels the sidewalks when it snows. They also leave a note when they will be coming in to change the air filter, etc. and actually show up on the day they said they would.
My only complaints: the walls are thin so if you have noisy neighbors you'll hear them (however, a lot of grad students and year round older residents live here so it's pretty quiet), the kitchen does not have a dishwasher, the kitchen cabinets were not replaced in the upgrade, there is limited guest parking within the complex (but there is street parking all along side it and you can get a visitor pass from the front office if you know when someone's coming), the second bedroom does not have a cable outlet (so I had to run my cords from a splitter in the master bedroom to the second bedroom), and there is only 1 bathroom in the 2 bedroom apt (I wish it was 1.5 baths).
Overall, however, I would highly recommend this apartment complex.
