Basic *College* Apartment - Noisy, a litttle run-down

I have lived here for 3.5 years, and am moving out because I just graduated. I would rate The Village at 2.5 out of 5. This may seem low, but for a basic college apartment, I think it's about average.
Here's what I liked: Visitor parking is enforced, which limits the amount of outsiders coming to party. Maintenance did a pretty good job.. whenever we had an issue, they were fairly prompt & definitely very friendly. There is a walking path not far away which I've heartily enjoyed. If you have an issue with noise, the police are prompt and take care of the problem. (Keep in mind, I've never had to call the police, but I think my roommate did once because of noise!). We had a 3rd floor apartment, and I highly recommend it because of the vaulted ceilings (the 1st and 2nd floors do not!), which makes it more spacey. If you like to play tennis, there are 2 courts on site!
Here are the negatives: Noise - You can expect loud music and parties from Thursday-Sunday nights (keep in mind, this is a *college* apartment complex). The buildings are beginning to look a little run down. I've noticed some wear and tear that worry me, though I know nothing about structural damage - it just looks like the apartments need some work, mostly on the outside. The exercise rooms are a JOKE - MOST machines are completely broken and worthless (AND HAVE BEEN SINCE I CAME 3 YEARS AGO!). They used to have 2 tanning beds, now there's only 1. The hot tub seems kinda gross. The pool is small. We've had trouble in the past with bee infestations, but the maintenance took care of it and it went away. *IMPORTANT*: The Village leases rooms *by the room*, so if you go for a 4-room apartment and only have 3 roommates, The Village will assign you a random 4th roommate. I have heard horror stories about this, everything from drug addicts to child pornographers (I'm not kidding on this point!). My best advice is to *know* the people you are living with and do not have random people assigned... that will solve the problem. No pets are allowed, not even fish, and if they catch you with one, even in the parking lot, you will get charged a $250 fine.
Overall, not a bad experience. My boyfriend lived in Foxridge, which is only about 3 miles away... If I had the chance to do it over, I would definitely live at Foxridge.. the management is much better there and it is quieter. Foxridge also has a huge pool, a duckpond, a beautiful walking path near huge fields with a pastoral landscape. g-hKOS7s4Nq5n3hEIpHd
