I read a lot of reviews before moving into the village and everyone was talking about how bad it is but gave it a chance anyways. It is terrible. I wish I had lived anywhere but here.
Parking: There is a good amount of parking, I dont usually have a problem finding a spot. On weekends after 10 it's really hard to find a parking spot, usually I have to park on the other side of the parking lot on weekends. They are really good about towing though so its not like guests parking in resident parking spots is a problem. also on weekends there are a lot of cars picking people up/dropping people off so there is traffic in the parking lot. it can get pretty obnoxious
Noise: the noise is nonstop. even on sunday nights there will be parties sometimes. I live on the bottom floor and the people in the 2 floors above me are constantly having parties. there's also a lot of drunk people screaming all the time. if you have to study during the weekend you won't be able to do it at home.
Grounds: the village looks nice for the most part, sometimes there is a lot of trash though. the gym is really small and the machines are crap. the machines are jammed into a small room and when there are more than a couple people in the gym rooms its awkward.
Safety: they do a good job of keeping everything well-lit but i have never once seen a courtesy officer. my boyfriend was jumped by a group of drunk guys while walking to his car and there was no courtesy officer to be found.
Construction: I really like the apartment itself. the kitchens in phase 2 are pretty spacious. i live in a 4 bedroom apt and we dont have a problem having all 4 of us in the kitchen at once. everything is pretty nice except that the rooms are pretty small and the furniture isn't great but it could be worse. its hard to keep the apt warm. the heater will warm up the apt for about 5 minutes and then it goes back to being cold, expect a high gas bill.
Maintenance: the maintenance staff is great. we had a small leak in the kitchen and they fixed it within an hour..on a sunday. we did have a problem getting them to fix our leaky dishwasher when we first moved in. the office said that it was because just about everyone needed something fixed within the first week of moving in. the maintenance staff is pretty friendly and helpful.
staff: the office staff is nice but they have an answering service on weekends. i dont think that the people that work for the answering service are employees of the village but they are rude and always have an attitude. the people that work in the clubhouse though are nice and helpful
Its nice having the apartment already furnished and a washer/dryer and the apartment itself is nice for a college apartment but dont expect to feel at home or to be able to study. overall i dont recommend this complex..of all the complexes i have visited Terrace view has been my favorite.

Like most of the apartment complexes in Blacksburg, the Village is a drunk tank. Blacksburg and the various property managers like it that way, it's all about bringing in money and not about having a nice place to live. Blacksburg is a drinking town with a football problem.
