Not worth my money anymore

Years at this apartment: 2003 - 2004
I spent a short time at BurkeShire Commons and have no intentions of either living there again or recommending them to a friend. Granted, that the complex is located in probably the best community of Northern VA; the apartment complexs are in dire need of rennovations as the stairwells, decks, and siding are shoddy and filthy. I had twice the amount of living space for a third of the price when living in Stafford. As for management and customer service, I was disappointed. The young women in the office were smug and disinterested to help at times. They recently changed energy/water services, without any prior notification. It was not only inconvenient, but we noticed a spike in energy charges. Parking is fine if you get home before 4pm, otherwise, it's first come first serve. And forget about parking on a Friday or Saturday night, because you'll be hiking to your apartment. The grounds were kept just enough to avoid a health complaint. During the winter, the cul-de-sac we lived in became a sandbox, because management wouldn't bring in sweepers to clear out the sand put down after it had snowed. The garbage system is atrocious as the garbage chute is often left for days overflowed. I can't believe they actually tried to offer me that first apartment closest to that chute about 20 feet away. Overall, I feel exploited for the money I spent at that apartment. AIMCO should rethink it's management/operational plan for this location, while residents should realize that just because Burke is a terrific area, they shouldn't have to pay Georgetown prices for Prince George conditions.
