Young Couple

Years at this apartment: 2004 - 2004

My husband and I lived there for 1 month in January 2004. It was a temporary arrangement until our new home was ready next month. A friend had moved out earlier then his lease designated and we finished up the last month of his lease so he would not have to pay the early termination fee while we waited for our new home in Ashburn to be available to move in.

Bent Tree Apartments was not a very good place to live. The walls are paper thin that you can hear people's conversations in the hall and who is comming and leaving their apartments. One early morning my wife was sleeping and she heard a loud banging noise and went to go get the door but it turned out there was someone knocking on the door across the apartment unit. Noise was an issue at Bent Tree Apartments and you could hear people flushing their toilets or turning on their showers.

The dryers were terrible! They were the worst! It took like literally 2 hours tos dry clothes! There was just no heat circulating at all to dry the clothes. The dryers worked fine but you had to have your clothes in there for too long of a time (wasting electricity) to get any kind of drying effect. We never checked it out since we were there only for 1 month. Washing/drying clothes was a horrible experience though at Bent Tree.

Parking was fine. You could park anywhere you wanted too. No designated parking spots.

Heating was terrible too!! You had to turn it up REAL HIGH to get any kind of warmth during the cold time in January we were staying. It was terrible. The place was always cold no matter what you yanked the heat up too. We even bought a small electric heater.

The top kitchen cabinets were placed REAL HIGH up too and for a short person it was a pain to store things up there and have to go up and reach them.

Everything about Bent Tree was just so old and shabby from the inside. The walls, the washer and especially the dryer unit, the heating, the kitchen, etc. The market rent at that time was $1245 for a 1 bedroom 1 den ground level apartment. Our utilties were $165 for one month.

We were GLAD to move out and go to Ashburn when our time came. As a young couple, it was nice because it was close to GMU but NOT WORTH it for the price we would have to pay had we stayed. Its not worth it. I would not rent there again.
