Can't complain too much...

I'd have to say this apartment complex isn't bad. I'm actually really happy with where I chose to move to. I recently moved in several months ago and have thus far been satisfied with my experience. Aside from some annoying neighbors who don't realise they live in an apartment and not their own single family home, it hasn't been bad.

Location- great! Just off of the exchange btw rt 29/28, as well as just seconds from I66(using the rt28 exit). It's real close to restaurants, movies, the shopping centers, malls, grocery stores, etc. All of which I'd say is within a 15 min radius (most of them are in fairfax- literally we're on the border of fairfax and centreville, we definitely reap the benefits of nearby fairfax).

Safety- Thus far I haven't had a problem with this (still crossing my fingers). However, just like any other apartment complex I would suggest people be cautious of their surroundings especially in the dark. The sidewalks are lit well as are the entryways to the apartments themselves.

Atmosphere- I like the atmosphere here. Being new to the area (and new to the apartment living life) It was suggested to me that I could get a good idea on the "atmosphere" of the complex if I looked at the sort of vehicles parked in the lot- especially after people have come home from work. Most of the vehicles are "family style" ones. SUVs, mini vans, compact/family cars, four door trucks, etc. I'd have to say it is very comforting to see families walking their pets and children playing outside (as long as they aren't in the street-which usually they aren't). I like the atmosphere of this complex.

Noise- Unless you live just off of 29 it's not too bad. However, depending on who your neighbors are will also determine how noisy it is. I don't hear my neighbors to the sides much, but I definitely hear if my neighbor upstairs is playing his/her music/tv/etc too loud! And I don't mean petty loud, I mean obnoxiously so loud it sounds like it's coming from MY apartment. Noise is expected in any communal living facilities, however when your neighbors are just plain rude at all hours of the night- feel free to call the police. Sometimes if anything the knowledge that their neighbors called the police can help with their behaviors.

Maintenance- I am actually really happy with the maintenance team that takes care of this property. They typically respond the same day if you have a problem during their office hours, and within the next 24-48 during non office hours. The only time I did have an issue with them was when I had a nasty maintanence issue that seriously needed their attention at night on the weekend and they didn't respond until 10am the following day. However, even when they did they were still very helpful and really nice.

While I don't live in one of the upgraded apartments, it's still not a bad deal. A few things though- no matter what apartment you get with a fireplace- it's not very helpful when it comes to your heating bills. Unless you plan on sitting about four feet from the fireplace you're lucky to get half your living room space to a warmer temp- they're purely for decorational purposes (it's always nice to have that fireplace touch). Also, I don't know if the upgraded apartments have new heating systems, but mine isn't very good at all. Seems I will be living in blankets and very warm clothing this winter. My apartment doesn't seem to like being any warmer than 70 degrees at all times (oh and not all rooms are able to be heated evenly- one of my rooms I'd swear stays in the upper 60s at all times.- even with the "winterized" windows with the plastic on them).

Other than some of those minor issues it's really not a bad place to live if you don't plan on being here forever. Definitely great for couples just starting out or college students- there are many families in this complex which give it an added "home-like" touch.

A GREAT location, the staffs are more or less quite friendly, and the atmosphere is definitely one that anyone could find comforting. Oh, and there are some GREAT take out restaurants just across the way (that deliver!) Anyway, like I said...I really can't complain too much!
