An OK apartment

Overall this apartment was ok. This was my first time renting by myself. When I first started looking at this apartment had a rude staff member. Her name is Tiffany. She was not very pleasant. It was interesting, the day I went the rent was one price, and the next day when I decided to sign, it had gone up $20.00. I was told it is just how the market is. I did get my 1br/1ba with den at a decent price for the area 1055.00. I decided to not do the deposit and join this sure or secure deposit company. I only paid 89.00, but in the end I ended up having to pay 105.00 for carpet cleaning, nail holes in the wall (from pictures), and a re patch of the balcony railing due to my satellite dish. I say go ahead and pay the deposit, so you won't have to come up with money in the end. Also, make sure that if you are living alone that you only get one set of keys. They tried to say that I received two sets, but I never did. They were going to charge me $20.00 just to replace the locks. No they do not replace the locks every time someone moves out, so be aware of that as well. Try and take pictures of your place before moving in and then after so they can't say you did something. Especially now that they are renovating all apartments. Also, be careful when it becomes Winter time. They do not properly treat the walk ways and stairs. I ended up falling down a flight of stairs because they did not treat the (metal) stairs by 9pm at night. I was lucky I did not break anything and they are lucky I did not sue them. I was told that I need to be more careful and that they did salt/sand the stairs at that time. If they had done that, I would have had salt or sand on my coat, pants, and possibly shoes. They seem to be under management a lot, so be ware of that too. On the day of my final walk-thru the maintenance guy was not very nice, like I was disrupting his work schedule because I wanted to be there when they did the walk-thru. Always recommended for you to do a walk thru so you won't be charged for something that wasn't you.
