Great community, poor management

I've lived in this complex for almost a year and in the first few months I was considering to extend my lease for another year, but at this point I will not and here is why:
1. Poor management communication - I had no idea where the trash collectors were, where the pools were, where the gym was. Every time a service person comes by the apartment they do not leave a note whether they fixed the problem or not, I have to follow up myself.
2. Poor response to requests, try calling the management office and ask them for a definite answer to any question related to the property...you will not get it.
3. The apartment is cold in the winter and it cannot be fixed because it is the way the heating system is set up, so if you like to freeze or don't care that you pay high utilities bills then this is the place for you.
However the complex is beautiful and conveniently located in Centreville. If you are not too demanding you will be fine here.

I have lived at Lakeside for almost a year now as well. I've had 2 maintenance issues and both times a note was left on my kitchen counter with a short paragraph explaining the problem and how it was fixed, so I have been happy with that. My two issues were fixed in a timely manner as well. I was told where the pool, trash, etc., was at the time I moved in. I had those visits on my initial tour as well. I guess it depends on which staff person assisted you. I definitely agree with you about the temperature in the apartment. Utility bills are ridiculous. I have a one bedroom apartment and I'm the only person who lives in it. I keep the thermostat set at 64 degrees and my utility bill for the last 3 three months has run from $142-$161, go figure on that one. I'm pretty much paying a small fortune to freeze my butt off. Parking isn't the greatest either. I sometimes think there are 10 people living in each apartment by the number of cars. Other than the parking and utility bills I have been pretty pleased. It's definitely one of the better places I've lived at.

Well it looks like you had a better experience than I did...and yes parking is impossible to find if you get home a little later...
