The reviewer under me was pretty spot on with their description but there is much more. Here is a list of why I hate living in Lakeside:
1. After constantly changing the rent price up until I signed my lease, they ended up charging me over $1,700 which is more than any of my neighbors. So essentially they decided to rip me off after seeing my pay stubs.
2. The leasing office (like most) is full of incompetent people. Granted most of them are polite and have a nice attitude, it's still a hassle to communicate with them especially with important issues like notice to vacate and billing. Along these lines, they send you your rental bill a couple days before it's due at best. This wouldn't be so bad if it wasn't different every month since they decided to send one bill with rent, water, and sewer amounts.
3. Maintenance requests seem to be filled at the flip of a coin. My AC is the oldest one in the group and it is obviously broken because it makes strange noises and it isn't really effective anyway. I've asked them to look at it, but they never did.
4. Noise is awful. Perhaps it's just my luck but the two upstairs neighbors I've had are louder than I've ever had. The first family was pretty bad and I didn't think it would get worse. Every day I had to listen to their kids run about the apartment as if they were in track followed by the inevitable fall and crash...which proceeded the high pitched prepubescent squeals of pain which pierced through the walls. The new neighbors are much the same, as I hear their kids banging who knows what all over the place, they walk with the weight of elephants, their girl screams constantly, and I even get to listen to their dog bark all day. Sometimes I can even hear plain talking. The walls could have a bit more noise reduction...
5. The area. Like the previous post explained, the area isn't getting better as far as crime or sketchness. My car was egged one night which was pleasent. There are big police LED signs in front of the entrances that tell you to secure you car and report suspicious activity. There are police always being called to the complex along with the friendly police chopper floating around at night. I thought I was across the country from Compton. It could be worse, and I have lived in worse, but at the price..no way.

Overall the price is a major concern because it's just not worth it.

Yes, the cops being constantly present doesn't exactly indicate the safest place...my neighbor had his car broken into recently and the office management was not even willing to let him pay his rent later, so he could fix up his car, after he was trying to explain the situation to them. He was told that his account will be turned in for collection if he didn't pay on time. Go figure...the place is obviously not the safest, but the management does not care about that, they only want their money...

I agree. I hate the complex. The bills are always late, and different every time. They really need to step back and look at their tenants. Lakeside has a revolving door that never stops. Granted this is an apartment complex but, I've never seen so many people coming and going. I agree with steelwaffle about the management being polite and incompetent. They really don't know what they are doing. I want to believe its a Bozzuto Mgmt problem. If you step aside from all the HR/paperwork stuff, they complex is nice, too nice. They have sprinklers on a lot of the time, after it has rained, granted its probably on a timer (Turn it off!). Things are constantly breaking, AC doors, windows, power failures, power surges. Not sure if it is an age thing or something else. One thing I do know is that my windows are dated from 1988. and my electrical panel was signed off by the electrical inspector in 1988 as well. Paint can't cover up EVERYTHING! Its time they update the windows and AC units. People will spend far less money on utilities if they would update things. Kitchens are very nice and modern. The dog park is really nice if you have a dog. However, if you want to bring your dog down there in summer bring water with you, they dont want to spend the money to put a water hole for the dogs...it would cost no more than 500.00 with labor AND materials. The dog owners would be more than happy to install it themselves. Trust me, I know, I have a dog and would install it for free. Complexes don't care about you personal belongings, just your money. They also need to pave their parking lots and update a lot of their signs. Its Northern Virginia, they should be fined for having a faded "no parking sign".
