Not bad, for the price

A few things:

-- I only saw one roach in the nearly 2 years I lived there, and I'm not positive it was a roach. No other pests to speak of, except the parking enforcement (I'll get to that later).

-- Very clean walkways between apartment levels, but still isn't top-rate... it's a little run-down on the eyes (brick walls, metal railways, concrete steps in that industrial-beige color) and the lightcovers have about 4 years' worth of dead bugs in them, but I suppose you don't have to look up when you walk to your apartment.

-- We had a 2 bedroom, 2 bathroom apartment and the cost was over $2000 a month. This is pretty steep in my opinion, especially since the apartment interior wasn't much to look at. Granted, it wasn't exactly a cardboard box, but the kitchen area was pretty run-down looking. Decent balcony, though, with nice view of the woods. The woods also had a really nice pathway to walk through that crossed the creek, and the sound of the water is extremely relaxing way to unwind after the day. The woods/creek were my favorite part of the MR living experience.

-- Parking: There was an altercation between myself and the towing company that MR uses, but it has since been cleared up. Those white VISITOR parking spots in the back' Those are my doing. There used to be just a sign that pointed to the left, indicating those places were for visitors, but the sign was ripped down and they towed me when I parked in the spaces it had previously idicated. I argued that, if the sign was ripped up it wasn't my fault if I parked in the wrong space, and managed to walk away without having to pay the 90-dollar fee... but it wasn't without a huge headache. If you don't have a parking pass, make sure to park in the labeled visitor places (there aren't many, by the way). I've gotten towed many times after that because there weren't enough (causing me to have to park waaay out of my way across the street in London Town), so park early, I guess. They only give you 2 parking passes, and all subsequent passes will cost you.

-- the management is very cordial and every time I had to pick up a package they were very sweet. I never had an apartment-specific problem, so I don't know how they are with that.

-- laundry: the mini washer and drier weren't very good at all. Hopefully they've changed this since I left last July. They look like they've been there since the 1980's (I know the microwave has, since its manufacture date is clearly visible), and the drier takes about 3 hours just to get the clothes MOSTLY dry. My advice is to do VERY small loads of each, so the ancient machines don't get overloaded. With small loads the drier did okay, but there was still a strange mildew-y smell to the clothes.

-- The "specials" that this apt complex offers are very nice. Just about every week they have something going on, like a pet-sitting night or a babysitting night, or a movie for the kids or community barbeque.

-- there was some strange black mold on the windowsills. I didn't have time to complain to the management about it, but I doubt it was very healthy.

-- as far as I know, there aren't any "random" apartment searches. I've heard they do this in other apt. complexes, but they don't do it here. I'd know if they did.

all in all, it's expensive and has it's perks and pitfalls. If you can afford it, I'd reccomend it.
