Not if you value your sleep...

This is a beautiful property, BUT....
We moved in on the evening of August 20 and moved right back out the next day. The walls are ridiculously thin. The windows are also useless for sound-proofing (and I would therefore guess insulation purposes as well). We had a family with two toddlers living above us, and all we heard all evening, was them running back and forth across our ceiling, as well as jumping up and down. We asked their mother to try to help, but it was constant. After the children finally went to bed, we were then treated to the sounds of all aircraft going into Dulles until about 11PM. THEN, we got to hear sirens going up and down Rte. 66, which is apparently right at the back of the property (we were in the front), all night long. It was miserable. None of this was known before we moved in, since this is a gated community, and they don't allow you to see your apartment until after you sign your lease and move in. Keeping in mind that this is a beautiful, beautiful property, if you don't miss sleeping and peace, then this would be a wonderful place to live.
We feel that we should have received a full refund of our deposits, etc., since we lived there 16 hours. We also feel a little misled.
They will keep the $90 application fee, and a $200 deposit. They refunded our rent, pet fee (since we never moved any pets in), and part of another deposit.
We loved the appearance of the property, but will never be able to live there. In addition, we refused one apartment on the basis of the insulated window having damage. Its seal had failed and there was a condensation build up between the panes. Also, the apartment that we refused had been prepared for new residents, but the walls had obvious damage from holes, that was poorly repaired. We told the leasing agent who showed us the apartment that the actual apartment that we rented had better not have damaged windows. Sure enough, when we moved in, the apartment had FIVE damaged windows. However, the maintenance came up immediately and promised to have them all fixed on the next work day. Now THAT'S service! We did not stay long enough to see if this would actually happen, of course.
By the way, we agree with an earlier poster. About 5-6 of these posts sound suspiscioulsy similar and like the property employees are writing positive reviews here to keep the rating up. We can promise you there is a severe issue with noise in all apartments on this property. The construction was lousy. The window seals failing so quickly in a large amount of windows shows cheap materials were used. And, when you can hear your washing machine spinning out while standing outside in the breezeway, as well as feel the floor shake OUTSIDE, and the wall, something is not right!
As a final note, the air conditioning is unable to cool even a second floor apartment properly. We suspect this is due to the lack of decent construction/insulation. We had a 2nd floor apartment, and set the ac to 75 degrees. Our entrance hall got to 75 degrees, but the rest of the apartment was uncomfortably warm. It never cooled down. Even our 15 year old Ruud can run us out of the house at 75 degrees. Of course, we have solid construction and insulation in our house. We are glad to be back in it too, after our experience at Post Corners!
