When I first moved here over 2 years ago, I was very happy with this place. Over time, I have seen the community fall apart and last nights meeting about the property going condo only tore us apart even more. There seemed to be a lot of angry and frustrated residents attending the meeting. From my interpretaion of the meeting invitation, I (and every other resident I'm sure!) was under the assumption that the outcome would be exciting and positive and we would leave feeling all of our questions had been answered. I also assumed, and a letter I had recieved STATED, that prices for purchasing our homes would be illustrated and I thought we could immediately begin making the decision to buy our place or not. There, after hearing MANY complaints from other tenants about the conditions of their rentals, we learned that the prices (which we were told would be available but found out they weren't!) would NOT be based on the condition of every individual home and the homes would be sold AS IS with NO negotiations. I think this is completely unfair based on the fact that a lot of the poor quality conditions are not always the fault of the tenant, but the lack of quality maintainence and followup. I find it hard to believe that a home in perfect condition is worth the same amount as a home attached to the charred down remains of 3 units destroyed in a fire almost a year ago. Seeing that area of the property is very upsetting and disheartening, especially to the people who were there that day worried that their home would be consumed by the fire as well (which I was, on both accounts). For the most part I've enjoyed my home here, but will never rent from an Equity property again after hearing so many complaints from upset residents. I feel sorry for outsiders who will eventually buy and move in to the potential "lemons" this property seems to have.
