Brookridge has decided to go condo. Is anyone thinking of buying' I'm debating on purchasing my unit. They are including a basic upgrade in the purchase price but is it worth it to look past the slanting floors and the crooked walls' I would only live here for five years and then sell. Would you buy'

Depending on what your current unit is (1 or 2 bedroom) I would have to say, "MAYBE." Look at it this way, the market price for housing is going down and you could buy a newer (or new construction) 1 bdrm condo in fairfax for about $240,000. I'm sure there's a town home in the area that is going for about the same price as what they quoted us for a 2 bdrm. Take a really good, close look at your apartment. Is it really worth it?

We are definetly not buying. Our 1 bdrm is settling unevenly and there are alot of cracks in the walls. But, I know that comes with any aging property. It also looks like there have been quite a few leaks in the past. We have poor patch jobs all over our ceilings. Also, Equity Residential does not take care of there properties. Trust me, I use to work for the company. They run the poor maintenance guys into the ground. I've read alot of complaints about maintenance issues. These guys do everything from painting, turning, cleaning, fixing, and repairing the apartments. The company is to cheap to contract out for most of these things. That means they fix it just enough, but sometimes not at all. I can truly say that they are poorly maintained. Do you think that it's worth the $185,000 - $ 320,000? We'll be moving when our lease ends.
