One year was more then enough convincing to leave

I left Abbington Crossing this year and I couldn't be happier to get out. Got a three bedroom with a friend which was easy enough to afford, but come this years lease they wanted to raise rent $45 dollars on top of their constant threats to evict us.

Why' Because another (unregistered) dog was seen running around the neighborhood that happened to match the description of the dog we had in our apartment, even if it looked nothing like our dog. So they decided to immediately try to evict us instead of even talking to us first, which is their normal practice it seems. Not only that, but they gave us 2 days to move out. We talked to them about the issue and worked it out, but our relationship with the apartment office went downhill from there.

They were rude from the moment I signed the lease. Never greeted with a smile or friendly expression. Lighting in our area was dim, at night people would come around and bang on our doors one person broke the lock to our door. My roommate was stalked several times when she was alone and would be harassed by random people showing up at the door. The apartment office did little to help. Later we found out a serial rapist was living in Abbington.

The office constantly harassed a handicapped neighbor of mine with legal threats if she wouldn't move out so they could refurnish her apartment. No negotiations of sympathetic efforts were made by the office. If the office doesn't like the way you decorate they threaten to charge you an extreme amount of money to barge into your place and fix it. Several times we received bills or notices for bills that were not real. It was a constant effort to make sure we were not upsetting the office in anyway or they would threaten to evict us again, even though all our neighbors stood up for us when ever the office would pull some crap, basically, we were really great residents in our neighbors eyes, but the office hated us for some reason.

Loose wires can be found coming out of several apartments, which leads me to believe that the several fires in the neighborhood in such a short time are not coincidental. The police were by the neighborhood constantly for one reason or another, twice for people who were found dead in their apartment. One lady was older but... sort of jarring to me anyways and not fun to walk out on your way to work and see forensic investigators walking around in front of a neighbor's apartment.

I have been out of the neighborhood for a month already and I am still dealing with the office at Abbington because none of the deposits I paid (4 totaling at $800 dollars) went towards a damage deposit. I have no idea where my money actually went when living there, the condition of the neighborhood degraded a great deal over the year I spent living there but the cost of living still increases at an incredible rate.

If you move in, just make sure you are not in any way bringing in a dog that even slightly resembles a pit, pincher, boxer, or any bully breed out there, otherwise they will accept your lease then attempt to evict you first chance they get. They are not pet friendly in the least from what I have heard from others, your pet deposit has no purpose really.

Abbington might actually be adequate if it were not for the office constantly demanding more money while doing less and less for the residents. Talking to anyone who worked in the office was a total anxiety ridden ordeal, they could be negotiated with but their first response always seemed to be a threat. The maintenance staff are a great lot of guys though, which is a plus, and we only needed them a few times. I know several people who didn't even stay a full year because they couldn't stand the place, my current residence is worse in terms of neighborhood but the office is wonderfully responsive towards my needs and does what they need to do... and that make a world of difference!

I will never be moving back nor can recommend this place to anyone unless things improve drastically.

They are doing the same thing to me about the deposits. They said they are "fees" and not "deposits". This allows them to not use it towards damages and not have to return it. I have contacted the Better Business Bureau, a state agency, and the Federal Trade Commission. I suggest you do the same. These are shady people and they need to be held accountable.
