the good and the bad

I have lived here for two years, and plan to move out soon to buy a place.
The community has had its ups and downs while we've lived here. The place is on the cheaper end for C'Ville, but you do get what you pay for. Our neighbors have been getting increasingly louder and just more inconsiderate over time, including insanely loud music one night until 4 am that even the police couldn't stop (the person never opened the door). We too dealt with the aftermath of the crazy squirrel lady and her furry friends eating through TWO of our dishwashers. They did replace them quickly though, but dealing with squirrels wasn't fun.
Parking is ok by my building, but tight in other areas. This winter has had lots of ice (for Virginia), but it was plowed quickly in our area. The office staff is very friendly and quick to help when they can. Heating was great, we never had a bill over $80 for gas which was nice after some $200 ones for my old home.
I liked our apartment, and we had a great view plus a full size washer/dryer. The location is great, just far enough out to feel 'country' but close to shopping and UVA.
I will be sad to leave as it has been a great home, but the community is starting to slide as C'ville becomes more expensive and more people are drawn to renting in the cheaper places like Old Salem. It really just depends on your neighbors, as in any community. It may be a blessing in disguise if this place turns condo like so many others so it gets fixed up some.
