Barracks West formerly Old Salem Apartments and Townhomes
< | >
I've lived at Barracks West for a year now. The cost is decent for the square footage (although they are raising our rent slightly). The apartment needs some updating - the kitchen is small with little counter and cupboard space. The carpet needs to be replaced (they decided not to when we moved in). Maintenence and the front office don't communicate with each other well. I've had times when I've called something in and they forgot about us or had to be reminded 3 times to fix something. When we first moved in, they tried to give us the apartment with paint drippings all over cabinets and windows and dead bugs (bees and wasps mostly - scary) in the corners of the room. They did clean it up after we complained. It was also annoying because they showed us a slightly larger apartment than what we received - they already had us locked into a lease by then. It can get noisy and it's annoying because when you walk across the floor in the apartment, the room shakes and the sliding glass door shakes (I feel bad for the people below). When we first moved in, it was a quiet building with nice people. Since then, the clientelle who have moved in are not quite as good and much noisier. As far as apartments go, it's ok, but not anything to get excited about. We'll probably be here another year and then find something else better.
