I have lived in Charlottesville for 5 years now, first while an undergrad and now as a working professional. I have had my share of apartment shopping as well as plenty of friends Ive asked about their renting experiences. Considering rent, location, amenities, maintenance, and customer service of the staff, Jefferson Ridge is by far the best place to live in Charlottesville.

The apartment itself is above and beyond anything else around. All of the apartments have brand new appliances, crown molding, cherry cabinets, full size washer and dryer, high ceilings or available cathedral ceilings, T1 lines, free HBO, and covered entrances. They have really thought about making these apartments nicer than anything else available in Charlottesville. There are a variety of floor plans to choose from. You choose the color scheme of your kitchen and appliances. There are apartments available with fireplaces. They have obviously put a lot of effort in the details all the way down to lighting fixtures matching the kitchen cabinet handles. All of the apartments have a large amount of square footage. They have thought about everything, including the views from your apartment. The Blue Ridge Mountains surround the community and provide beautiful views. Every building is located with the views in mind. Other communities Ive looked at, including Camden Plaza, Stoney Point, Carriage Hill, and Riverbend, are all significantly higher rent (with nothing included), less square footage, less choices, and overall lower quality apartments.

The apartment is a great deal just for the rent and options alone, but Jefferson Ridge, when complete, will offer even more. There will be a pool, clubhouse, basketball, tennis, and volleyball courts. They are in the process of completing the clubhouse and extra amenities now, but it has really not been an inconvenience at all. They have obviously been working very hard to complete the work as soon as possible, but for now they have lowered our rent. They have kept us informed on the process, have been pushing the builders to get finished, and have made an obvious effort to keep noise down, which is all I ask. Again, there are other places that have comparable rent without any extra community amenities. I will consider it a bonus when everything is complete, but I would have honestly rented here without any of that because the apartments themselves are amazing.

Perhaps the most impressive part of living here is the maintenance and leasing personnel. In my past experience, landlords in Charlottesville charge as much or more for a standard apartment just because they can and care very little about your living experience. Here, not only do they care, they go above and beyond in every aspect. There is a maintenance person on grounds and is always accessible and welcomes any questions or concerns. We have not had any major problems, but once the filter in our dyer was blocked (which was probably my fault) and he immediately came to look at it. The management also shows exemplary customer service. At Christmas time, the management gave us a little Christmas tree. I could go on and on with examples of how well we have been treated by all of the Jefferson Ridge Staff. I will live here until I eventually buy my own place. I recommend Jefferson Ridge to anyone who wants to live in the best place in Charlottesville.
