PARKING: Parking is sometimes an issue, they say there is always parking somewhere in the Shamrock Corporation lots, yes that's true, but when you are paying rent, you would like to have a space at your own apt. complex. Not in the parking lot 5 blocks away. They'll ticket you and sometimes tow if you aren't in the designated areas-as a resident, even if there are more guest parking passes, tenants still don't get first picks. In other words, guests are more important than paying residents.

NOISE: Shamrock Gardens, if you look in the phonebook you see that it states "...for serious students", which makes it seem like it will quiet and calm. Not the case...this is an old apartment complex, thin walls and not enough insulation.I live on the 2nd floor, they just put carpets in upstairs, but you can still plainly hear conversations, phones ringing, alarms going off, tv noise, occasional bass from radios, and the occassional moans and groans of your upstairs or downstairs neighbors. The railroad tracks are less than 25 yards away, and you will hear them go across and sometimes feel them come.

GROUNDS: The grass and shrubs are maintained, but there isn't very much to look at. It's an older complex. The dumpsters get full quick and start overflowing sometimes. When winter hits, expect that you will have to get your own car out after the trucks plow through and pack the snow behind or beside your car.

SAFTEY: This parking lot is a prime hit for vandals to hit over the vacations and holidays, especially if your car is left behind. Car windshields have been smashed, tires slashed and on more than one occassion cars have been broken into, stealing radios and whatever else you have in there. Stairwells are lit but not very bright, dark in some areas of the parking lot.

CONSTRUCTION: Again this is an older complex, which means bigger rooms and lots of storage space, but also means older floors and carpets. Linoleum floors in kitchen and bathrooms have lots of dings and dents, dirty spots no matter how often you clean. Cracks in walls and ceilings. Part of the apt. has new windows, the other half has old windows that are very poorly insulated and you can feel the cold drafts come in the winter, windows and doors.

MAINTENANCE:
Depends on what you need them for, quick to put a mouse trap in.

OFFICE STAFF:
For the most part courteous, however, and the last few occassions, I think a new gal started working there, she was rude and thought she had some sort of power trip going on for her. Without the residents, she wouldn't have a job...

OVERALL: I lived there for 2 years and I'm so glad I left. We lucked out on our apartment, but inconsiderate neighbors drive you bonkers! I'm sure there are worse places, but there isn't much Shamrock offers for perks. Only includes water & trash. Laundry room a great plus no quarters needed, just an atm or credit card, but you never know when the dryer won't dry or when the wash won't clean right.

ETC: It's a little dark at night. Don't be surprised to see bugs or mouse droppings. They inspect every month for bugs, which is great, but doesn't that seem like too much' It's like they are expecting find something. Let's just say, most apartments are offering more than what they offer for the price. It depends on which apartment you get and part of your happiness will depend on how thoughtful and considerate your neighbors are too. Thoroughly inspect before you sign your lease. BUYERS BEWARE!
