I lived this year in 1830 JPA Shamrock Apartments all I can say is I can't wait to get out of my lease after graduation. In my opinion there are better apartments out there.


Pros
- Close to UVA grounds and the bus stop.
- Spacious living room
- Old carpet

Cons
-Parking can be a hassle.
-Noise level is bad. I can hear neighbors talk loudly in the middle of the night.
-Airconditioning unit in this apartment is old and have been falling apart. Only the living room and one of the bedrooms has airconditioner.
-Laundry facility consist of 4 washing machine and 4 dryer. The laundry room is unkept and is often used as a "storage" for old appliances such a refrigerator and oven. The washing machine and dryer units are old models and were said to take "credit cards" when we signed the lease last January 2007 but was broken at that time and had to be fixed. It's currently 2008 and it has not been fixed and had to resort to using quarters for laundry. In saying this, the coin slots for the washing machine and dryer does not work the few times I've used it and often ends up eating away your quarters instead.
- Management/maintenance have showed up in the apartment unannounced for inspection without giving advance notice. They're not always nice.
- Minor things in our apartments have been missing and when we wanted the main door lock changed, the renting office charged us $25.
- They had said they'll fix broken things in our apartment but they still have not done it.
