ITS A JOKE

Years at this apartment: 2004 - 2005
When we first moved in I had minimal complaints because we are not one's to complain, but by the time we left oh boy I couldnt keep my mouth shut. The first red flag was when we moved in the kitchen was a mess. There were coffee grounds all over the bottom of the fridge. The shelfs in the kitchen were not clean actually there were some dead roaches on the shelves. The fridge didnt stay cold. We moved in on Friday and at 3pm we called the leasing office and they told us it wouldnt be fixed until Monday morning. Well that wasn't gonna work because we spent $300 on groceries which nowadays thats not much. And they wanted to wait until Monday. My husband told them to either fix it or they can buy us groceries. Well being a new tenant they fixed it. The next morning our neighbors below us were knocking on our door because our fridge that was just fixed was leaking into their air conditioner vent. Again they said it wouldnt be fixed until Monday, but with a lot of complaining they fixed it. The next red flag was during the time we moved in was when people's car's were getting paint thrown on them. The next red flag was the neighbor on the groud level. Our apartment was on the third floor, so when he threw a party everyone knew about it. One night he got locked out after everyone left or either his girlfriend locked him out and he was beating on the door so loud that he busted the window. They did evict him, but it shouldnt hadnt have happened in the first place because he was a repeat problem. The next red flag was a late notice we had gotten on our water bill. I had overpayed our rent early one month and I knew the remainder of the overpayment would go towards the water bill. Well I didnt pay enough and after the 5th the rent is late. On the 8th they put a letter on our door dated the 6th(2 days earlier) that if we didnt pay the remainder of the the water bill by the 9th they would charge us 3% of our rent which would have been $300. Luckily, my husband got home from work early and walked over to the leasing office. He told the girls in there he had no problem paying the difference as we were trying to purchase a house and needed the reference, but to not post a note on our door dated 2 days ago and want the money the next day. He also told them not everyones works schedule revolves around their office hours. He payed the bill and was beginning to leave when the girl that he was dealing with thought he left and she started saying "I dont go into your work complaining about your business" so he marched right back in there and told her that when people come into his line of work (restaurant)and complain they usually walk out with a free meal. Boy was she speechless.
If I had to do it again I wouldnt move in there. The staff talks about you when your not around and the rent is way too much. The dishwasher didnt work, the wall in our apartment was cracked up to the ceiling. The shower was nasty, we couldnt get out fast enough. The prettiest thing about living there was the landscape.
