DO NOT move here unless you want to live in infestation, poor construction and uneducated white trash management.I recently applied and reserved a townhome at Hyde Park Apartments after moving to Chester for a job. Upon arrival I found the townhome in which I had reserved and was also completely renovated to be not in move in condition. When I first opened the door I was greeted with an unpleasant odor, dirty carpet and a friendly roach scurring across the floor to his home underneath the dirty refridgerator. The recently painted kitchen walls were marred, baseboard moldings were broken along with chipped off paint, the window sills were filthy and the windows were missing screens. Moving to the upstairs was just as bad; there were dead bugs along the master bedroom floor below the window, the bathroom was not clean, the closets were missing shelves and clothes rods, and the lights in the attic did not work. When I addressed these issues to ----- and ------in the office they were shocked since the apartment was just completely renovated. When I said the rent was to high for the conditions ----- told me to go next door and pay the same amount for a smaller place, in a snotty tone. Management here insisted the above conditions were indeed move in condition and that every thing could be fixed once we were in the apartment, which I objected to since these things should have been completed prior to my arrival. A couple of other things are the water and gas bills come to the complex as one and then they divide the bills according to apartment size which is ridiculous, and we were only told half the story regarding the pet policy. Since I was shown an unsatisfactory apartment I asked for my reservation deposit back which I was denied. Management here is very unethical all the way up to the regional manager. When you ask them about this review they will tell you that these things are unfounded as they did to me when I asked about the other reviews on this site, they told me the other reviews were from evicted tennants. I have talked to a few people around town and tennants at my new apartment and everyone has heard bad things about Hyde Park or experienced these things themselves. All that I can say is do not move in here, the pictures in the ads only tell part of the story. The place is a dump. Take this for what it is worth, I do not want to see anyone else lose any money to this complex.

That's unfortunate, sir. I live here and I haven't had those problems. I'm NOT management, but I do live here and enjoy it a lot. I think that management is very polite. I've never had a problem with them.

I agree wholeheartedly! I found out after I moved in (I also came fom out of town) that part of it is a low income apartment housing complex, and heard stories of drug deals, murders, and other crimes in the neighborhood. My apartment was in okay condition, but after being assaulted in thelaundry room, having my car broken into, and having someone try to break into my apartment, I moved out and refused to pay the 2 month rent that they tried to charge me for breaking my lease. I had to go to the regional manager, who I must say was very helpful and didn't make me pay given the unsafe conditions that I, a 23 year old single girl at the time, was living in!

There is no section 8 or low income housing in Hyde Park, and hasn't been for several years, my husband works for the county, and we checked on that before we moved in. Yes there is one side of the complex that tends to be a little rougher than the other, but overall its nice here, walk around before you go to the office to rent, and then let them know which side you want to live on, we did this, and we love our unit.
