I absolutely love my apartment. My roommate and I have lived in our 2BR 2BA for 5 months now and we couldn't be happier. The apartment was spotless when we moved in and haven't had a problem yet. Our bills are consistently low due to highly efficient units. It's far from noisy, I never park anywhere but in front of my building, even if I come home at 3 AM. There is ample visitor parking, but they may have to walk a bit. Not far though. You have to remember that visitors should walk further than residents b/c they're not paying rent.
Sterling residents are welcome to use the amenities provided by the subdivision in which it's located, Hampton Park. This includes all of the trails, skating rinks, mini golf, etc. just not the pool. This is fine as Sterling has a pool.
It is located out there, but if you don't take US 360 and find out other roads, you'll see your commute time cut in half. Easily. The community is located within 5-10 minutes of grocery stores, a Barnes and Noble, Target, Kohl's, one of the nicest movie theaters in central VA, restaurants galore, and Rt 288 which makes the area convenient to anywhere around Richmond, actually. Schools are great in the area.
The office is MORE than friendly and may not know our names off the tops of their heads, but they know our faces and smile and say hello whenever they see us.
So far the experience in this apartment has been fantastic. The only reason I'm not renewing my lease is because I'm moving to Northern Va at the end of the year. Otherwise I'd probably live in these apartments until I could afford to buy a house, as many years as that would be. My roommate and I got a special on our rent, about a $100/month. Even with the increase at the end of our lease which is sure to come, I'd probably stay because of the condition of the units, the quality of staff, convenience to anything I might need, overall atmosphere of the community, and extremely spacious rooms/closets, etc. I'm very pleased. In addition, we did not have to pay a security deposit, but I can't tell you if they charge an arm and a leg for routine clean-ups when you move out. mgFDbN4-dhkSMZ7zRmVH

The location is not convenient. The hull street area between the 288 highway and the Alta Sterling apartments is heavily congested with traffic on a daily basis. When traveling on hull street to and from the Alta Sterling Apartments (formerly known as Sterling Glen Apartments)to the 288 Highway, it takes at least 10-15 minutes to get to the 288 highway and longer during the morning and evening rush hours. This should be considered when traveling to and from work in the mornings and evenings. The late fees are unreasonably high. They charge an arm and a leg for routine clean-ups when you move out. The community offer garage rentals for about 110 a month, but you must give them a month's notice when you decide to end the garage rental. The garages has spiders (personally, I have seen a black widow spider in one of the garages) and the management does not offer extermination on a regular basis, so you must request it as needed. The Property Manager, Kristy, of the Alta Sterling Apartments (formerly known as Sterling Glen Apartments)is a very rude and arrogant person and has made our stay at Sterling Glen very unpleasant. She has an unprofessional attitude and poor communication skills. She goes out of her way to make things difficult for the tenants who live there. My lease is up for renewal but I decided to purchase a home at this time. However, if I had to rent an apartment again the future, I would not consider living at Alta Sterling again. |

The above response is completley incorrect. I have lived in these apartments for 6 years and I love them. The office staff is very nice and fixes any problems immediatley. Also, the aparment manager KRISTI(if you are going to talk about her at least spell her name right) is not at all rude or arrogant. She also does not go out of her way to make your stay any less enjoyable. If you were an apartment community manager and had ignorant people like you complaining all day, you would certainly have a bit of an attitude as well.

If the location was not convenient for you, I would have recommended not moving there. If you do not go on 360, you miss that morning and afternoon rush hour and it's really quite simple to do. It's a garage--there are insects. Buy a house and let us know if there are not critters in your garage.
Kristi is one of the reasons I love the apartments so much. She is more than willing to work with those who demonstrate a real need and are willing to work with her as well. She is by far one of the best community managers I've seen--able to maintain a personal recognition of all of her residents while also presenting a professional demeanor that keeps her respected and well-liked throughout the community. If you don't want late fees--pay your dues on time.
