Received a notice, written in happy marketing language, that my rent would increase by more than 30% at the end of this lease. What gives' Bait & switch' I see from reading these posts that this has happened to other people at the end of their first year.

My neighbor received a similar notice, 30%! I've rented apartments for many years and have never had an increase more than 10%.

Are others receiving notices of outrageous increases'

It must cost a fortune to live there now. I moved out in 2004 because of a huge rent increase, but it was nothing like 30%. I had lived there for three years. I wonder how they could get away with renting apartments at such high prices. I ended up moving into Portals of Alexandria, which I assure you is a HUGE MOVE DOWN! As I recall, decent apartments were really expensive in that area, which I left in early 2005. I think that an increase of 30% in one year should be illegal, although I know it isn't.
