Once was great - now not so much

Years at this apartment: 2001 - 2004

I moved into a brand new one bedroom when Remington was still being built. The leasing agent at the time was great and I ended up with the cheapest apartment in the whole complex. This was a much nicer place than I had ever rented, and it was at a price I could afford.
I realized my heat was not working, that same day someone was up there fixing it and by the next day they had it working. Also my dryer vent was not connected and again it was fixed right away. The bathroom was huge, the apartment was great and the high-speed ethernet was wonderful, since I take online classes.
I lived there happily for a year and a half. That February my fiance and I decided that we needed a bigger place so we looked into the 2 bedroom options. The Grant was good but when we saw the Michael we were sold. The leasing agent at the time said she had one with a pool view coming open very soon, so I signed a new lease. We tried to get my fiance on the lease but they said it was too much paperwork and they would just put him as an occupant but he would have the same rights as a leaseholder.
2 months later the old tenant was still extending his stay and we were living with boxes everywhere, waiting to move in. We left the 1 bedroom in immaculate condition and walked into our new apartment to find it in shambles. The paint (which we paid to have done) looked great, but other than that the carpet was old, the blinds were all bent, there was blue nasty water in the washing machine, none of the windows went up and when you finally got them up they wouldn't go down, and we had mice.
We went to the office and filled out 4 pages of complaints. We had to go so far as to have the regional manager of maintenence come see us to get a washing machine that worked. Two of those pages, including the carpet and the blinds, have still not been addressed - a YEAR later. Everytime we mention them we get a different excuse.
The major downfall of this community is the office staff. Through the years there have been a couple of good people, but they always leave. Everyone is quick to point the finger at everyone else, and there are just not enough people working there to accommodate the amount of residents. We actually spent about 12 hours of our own time in the last month trying to get our lease renewal (which they should have given us 60 days ago) and talk to someone about it. When we finally got to talk to the regional manager she accused us of lying and of not trying hard enough to talk to someone. My fiance started to speak and she said 'Excuse me, are you on the lease'' with a sarcastic tone. That was the last straw for us. We are going month-to-month until we can find a house.
If you are thinking of moving into Remington I say proceed with caution. There are many perks to living there like the location, internet access, movie theatre, pool hall, and the like. Just make sure you have plenty of free time, and a long fuse, to deal with the rental office! They certainly don't try very hard to keep their 'valued' residents.
