As a young professional, I can speak on how hard it is to find a quality apartment for a decent rate in the NoVa area. Everything is either 1200 for a small space or very cheap for running the risk of being shot. I chose the Remington because I knew the area was generally safe (I grew up in LoCo). After reading reviews on here, I admit that I was a little weary about signing but after many tours and meetings with the staff I finally bit the bullet.
The grounds are beautiful and very well maintained. Obviously, if pet owners were more responsible and if parents taught their teenaged offspring not to litter, it would be perfect; But really, its nothing out of the ordinary.
Maintenance for your apartment is decent; If you have a major, MAJOR problem then you treat it as such. I would never call or leave a message just once and assume that everything will be resolved the next day. Calling once and then maybe one or two times more to follow up usually helps things along. I had a broken laundry door and broken kitchen cabinet that took a little while to get fixed but these weren't things that I thought were very important so they were fixed within a month or two.
When I had a MAJOR leakage problem (I mean major; carpet staining, wallpaper/drywall splitting, stains) I took the lead and contacted the office 2 times and the 2nd time I asked to speak with the property manager. That got things moving extremely well and when it was determined that I need to either be moved from the apartment or let out of my lease, the office was very helpful and responsive. Like I said, if you do your homework and you follow up on repair needs (depending on how vital they are) the staff responds to you.
Club house is great! Gym is a little small but it's not meant to be on a world-class level. I haven't used the saunas but they look nice too. The theatre is awesome! It gets a little hot in there but it wasn't horrible. Definitely worth the money!
Noise isn't an issue for me right now; I live on the bottom floor. I can hear my upstairs neighbor on the treadmill (I assume thats what it is) but never when he/she is just walking or hanging out. Sometimes, very rarely, can I hear their tv set but I can tell it's just on really-extremely-loud, and this is usually during appropriate times like during the day or weekends.
Safety-wise I love it. I feel completely comfortable walking my dogs at night and coming home late.
Overall, I am satisfied with my apartment at the Remington. I definitely feel like I'm getting my money's worth; maybe even a little more! I think I'm so gung-ho about them now because of how they're handling my transfer because it really was a very smooth process.
