For the Money, Very Disappointing....

I am currently still renting my apartment within the Remington. I moved during the summer and I am highly disappointed with what I am paying for.
For a gated community, it is by far very unsecure. The gates have been missing for several weeks and the management team gives different stories to the residents as to why they have not been replaced. In the meanwhile, we've had several criminal attacks on various residents, everthing from gang attacks, break-ins and arson.
For the high price tag, I feel like I am closer to living in southeast DC than I am to a "luxury, gated community" of Loudoun County. The security staff hired to patrol the complex in the evening are poorly trained, rude and very incompetent. They have been seen on several occasions by various residents, chatting on their cell phones, blaring their radios and napping.
Another rather repulsive irritation is the trash receptacle. There is only one receptacle for the entire complex, at times you will find trash piled so high it filters down to the sidewalk, blocking the balconies of the residents in the nearby building.
The property is kept well in appearance with time and energy invested in landscaping and a cleaning team. I am fortunate to live in a building with very respectable neighbors, yet I am highly disappointed with overall package the management team tries to "sell" you. I have been concerned with the safety of some of my neighbors when safety issues seem to go unadddressed, the gates not working and the repulsive trash situation.
Overall, I would not recommend the Remington to future residents. I have lived in this area 18 years and would better recommend another high-end complex.
