Keep in mind that most people who write on these things are doing it because they had a bad experience, and the people with a positive experience never bother. That is why I am writing a review, to try and give a more objective side.
I moved in a month ago.
Here are the positives:
-Nice apartments inside, and out (maintanence picks up trash almost everyday)
Reasonably Priced
-Free internet works awesome and so does the free cable
-Great amenities, ie dishwasher, washing machine, ice maker in fridge, etc.
-Quiet, besides the normal people coming and going, having a cig outside once in a while and chatting, not much noise. The little girl above us likes to run around a little each night and weekends, but with the normal hubbub of the tv and household I barely notice. You are living in an apartment, you cannot expect to never hear any of your neighbors
-Lots of families living here, people with kids, they take turns walking them ti teh bus stop, playing on the playground (which is also nice) Unless you do not like kids (who tend to be noisey in general) but I have a baby and like the atmosphere.
-If you do not like black people, move to Alaska, cus here it is pretty much 50/50 here. This is America, grow up. (There are no gangsters in Dumfries, maybe wanna bees, but they are harmless)
-Nice wooded area, besides all of the new condos being built everywhere, lots of trees, Leesylvania state park a couple miles away with hiking, fishing and swimming is beautiful.
Negatives:
-No assigned parking. If you get home after 6pm, you may have to park a little ways from your door, but in general no more than say 200 feet. Most of the time we get a spot 20 feet from our door.
-It seems like maintanence is always coming in your place, they give you a warning and window (of a week sometimes) but it is just a pain to be worrying about. I am a SAHM so I am always here and who knows when they will wanna come in, I may be in my PJ's The day after we moved in they left a notice say that the pest guy was coming in 2 days and to empty our cabinets, well I didn't because I had spent 2 days un packing and could not deal and we had family here to help us move when they knocked so we said we were busy. The office could have been nice enough to schedule that BEFORE we moved in but whatever. At least they spray, we have no pest problems and that is probably why.
-Sometimes the neighbors are a little loud outside our doorway, and it makes the dog bark, so we had to get him a bark collar, but it is normal apartment living.
-The rental office doesn't take credit for rent payments so you have to go out get cash (which is a lot of cash) and pick up a money order, big pain. I wish I could just use my check card.
-The place is lit up ike a xmas tree, so if you like it dark get curtains, but I guess that only makes it safer.
