This place rocks!

It was a somewhat rocky start moving here, but it has definitely smoothed out since. Unfortunately for me, the lovely young lady that started my application process to get me in took a different job, and I almost got lost in the shuffle - if not for my "moving crew" I wouldn't have known it until it was too late.
If you're considering moving here, I highly recommend it. The community is full of professionals (near as I can tell), and the staff is wonderful. Both the young lady that initiated my application, as well as one of the other lovely ladies in the office, not only work here but also live here which is a definite bonus in my book.
The entire complex is extremely quiet and well maintained. Being that it is still relatively new, there is quite a bit of work still being accomplished by the hard working maintenance team - which by the way are super nice and fun to joke around with. I can say this - I've been here for a week and a half at this point, and I haven't really had to touch the thermostat! The apartment maintains a relatively steady temperature, so it's always comfortable - I have the thermostat set to auto and 70 at night, just to be safe, but it's yet to come on.
If you're moving from another apartment complex in this area, don't be startled by the rent - I thought it was high for me to afford at first, until I sat down and calculated the rent at my old place, plus cable, plus internet and phone. Turns out, it only works out to about 100.00 more than my old place. My cell phone has a full signal throughout the apartment, so no need for a land-line (again, works for me but maybe not you); as an added bonus, internet connection and directv are part of the rent/amenities - just plug in and go.
And if you think it's too far out of the way, I can say this - I'm now farther from work in Fairfax than I was before, but my commute has not increased timewise. Walmart is just down Route 1 (about a mile), and the grocery store, liquor store, movie rental place, pizza place, even a tobacco store are just across Route 1. If that doesn't suit you, just go down to 234 and head towards Manassas - brand new strips just opening up with Target, Starbucks, etc. Like I said, this place rocks! Can't wait for the pool to open....

"This Place Rocks" Hey, wasn't that my line on the first review? On a serious note- well said, and you've summed just about everything up. One addition, if you don't want to deal with a commute to work, I use the VRE about 10 minutes away (with traffic). |

Excellent post and a pleasure to hear. I'm moving there in June and I've been eyeing that complex for awhile now.

HI, I have been reviewing places to live in Dumfries and I am planning to work at Quantico Marine Base. How is the traffic as far as going back and forth in that direction. Also, what about the nearest school in that area for Elemetary & Middle School. Please help. Thank you.
