LOVE it here!

Excellent management, great layouts, maintenance=amazing, metro shuttle is SO convenient, bargain rates. I have lived in 3 other apt.s and this is by far the best complex in every way. I moved in at the end of January 2009 and have been wanting to write a review for a while but decided to wait to give myself more credibility.
First off, the location is wonderful: near everything but still hidden in trees. If you were weathered in, you could walk to get groceries and essentials easily. It is walking distance to Silver Diner, TGIFridays, and Pei Wei. Fair Lakes is a really great place to live if you are living in the area but not too keen on being someplace really "city."
The complex is small and personal. They remember me at the front office and from the start my saleslady, Julliette, was very easy to work with and truthful about everything. I was really on the fence b/n this and one other complex and she was patient with me. And I am so glad I chose here. They actually use the amenities fee you pay to host free events for residents, so far they have had a brunch and a Mardi Gras party. One time, I had to have furniture delivered and there was a mix up with the times and the front office helped me out by accepting the delivery for me at my apt. They really went out of their way.
They have a 24-hr maintenance policy where your request will be delt with in 24 hours or you get free days rents until it is done. The mainenance guys are really nice. I had the usual few things I needed done when I first moved in and they were done immediately. I also had one emergency where my lights were flickering because a circuit was old and they came immediately (on a Saturday). I have seen NO bugs and they just recently sprayed so I don't anticipate it ever being an issue. The buildings are in good shape.
I love my floorplan. It is the sort of slanted one bedroom floorplan (699sqft). It works perfect to put my tv in the corner and fits a couch and armchair, bookshelf, sidetable, buffet, entryway table, and a six seater rectangular dining table. There is room for a coffee table btw but i didn't get one because i play Wii games and do pilates in that space.
Parking right in front of my apt does fill up after 9pm but I have not had to go far to find a space, like I said, the complex is small anyway. My friends do not have to worry about being towed when they visit and there is no visitors pass to deal with. There are reserved covered spots available for $50/mo. but i haven't found it necessary.
I got an incredible rate because I was moving in immediately and, you know, with the economy the way it is. It isn't a "luxury" apartment i guess, but those you have to pay out the wahzoo for. I only have caged pets so I haven't had to pay the pet fees. I have pet rats, and the management didn't give me any flack for it (one complex turned me away for having "exotic" pets). Aside: anyone with pet rats knows they are cleaner than hamsters, so there!
I feel safe here: very important being a single female. I haven't seen anyone/events sketchy.
I take the metro everyday into D.C. where I work near Union Station. It takes an hour and 15 minutes. 30 minutes on the free shuttle and 45 on the metro. The shuttle drivers are friendly. I have always gotten a seat on the shuttle. The 7am one gets a little crowded after you stop at the two other complexes it goes to. The detour to these other complexes is not annoying, they are not out of the way. Unfortunately, the metro has been a pain, always at least a few times a week there is a delay. Because of this, sometimes it is hard to time getting to Vienna so you don't have to wait long for a shuttle. But mostly I think I can deal with that because I love my apartment. It is nice to be able to read the newspaper everyday and a book on the way back or listen to music to unwind during my commute.
I have not had problems with noise. There is the occassional car playing loud music as they pull in. A few times I have heard my neighbor's TV through the wall or some music but those are very minor annoyances. I myself have had a couple late saturday nights with friends in my apartment, and my neighbors have been cool about it.
You will love living here. Although, as you can see, I am biased ;).
UPDATE April 09: My best friends have decided to move in here too! Obviously the good deals are still going on! They are planning on getting a pet. The pet fees are very reasonable and lower than most places. I believe there is a $200 refundable deposit and then, depending on weight of the animal, $25 per month.
