I've been living at Ellipse for about 7 months and i've liked it. When we signed the lease, there was a deal for the first 4 months utilities included, which was nice. We haven't had any major maintenence problems. On a few rare occasions, I noticed bugs in the kitchen. Before I even had the chance to worry about it, we received a note that they would be spraying the apartments. This was done in one day and I haven't seen a bug since.
The first five or so months were great. A very quiet community. I was surprised to see that there are a number of dogs that live in my building because i've never once heard ANY barking....but....
a little over a month ago, some college-aged tenents moved in above us (and i believe they are friends with the people referred to in the post below this one). it has been noisy since. i understand that occasionally, in any apartment, there may be noise of walking around or light thumping, but this is often ridiculous. on SEVERAL occasions (almost daily) it sounds like a heard of elephants stomping around, pausing to throw the refridgerator on the ground. Since they are friends with the group living in the building next door, there is a lot of going back-and-forth, running around, and girls-chasing-boys-chasing girls going on. typical college-age things, i understand. i was once there too; however, this is not that type of community and their behavior stands out. When it's midnight on a saturday, i couldn't care less. but when it's on a tuesday night, it's just disrespectful.
This isn't a problem with the apartments or staff though, but it still gets annoying. I haven't mentioned anything to the staff, but i did mention something to the neighbors once and it seems to have gotten slightly better.
The building next to mine (the one that the person below me is talking about) does seem a little bit worse. there are ALWAYS people hanging around outside and noise going on, but this is the only building i've noticed that at. so i guess it depends where your apartment is.
our lease is up in a few months and we are debating on staying. we would like to stay, but the only things making us debate are: a significant increase in rent and the noise factor. If we decide to stay, we may look into switching to the top floor.
oh, and visitor parking isn't that great..you don't need a pass, but it fills up fast (usually on the weekends). and although they are supposed to tow 24-7, they don't start until 9pm (but ON THE DOT..my boyfriend was parked in a resident spot for a few minutes while coming to pick me up..at 9:02 he was being towed. but that's his fault cause i've warned him).
the building is a little bit older. i shut my bathroom door while sleeping because the pipes constantly make a ticking noise, but i've become used to it. the floor in my bedroom seems to be sloped and i've had to put small wooden blocks under my dresser because the drawers would fall open (although this may be partly due to the cheap ikea dresser).
the staff is young and nice, although they aren't always the brightest when going to pick up packages. if a package is waiting for you at the leasing office, they keep it in a closet. they'll ask you your name, search all over, and tell you it's not there. if you politely ask if you can take a look, it will be sitting right there, staring you in the face (this has happened twice to me and twice to my roommate).
all in all, it's a good place to live. no real major issues are apparent and the minor issues are things that are going to be at any apartment complex.
