Worst apartment transaction ever

We were originally scheduled to lease an apartment from them July 15.

We filled out our applications and paid a $550 on July 3 were told that we have to wait before signing a lease and that they needed our pay stubs.

We sent that information two days later because July 4th was a holiday.

While waiting for them to give us our leasing paper we ran across another apartment July 9th the same day they asked us to sign the lease.

We like that apartment better and decide to go with that one.

We then went in and told our leasing agent that we were no longer interested in the apartment.

She said she was new and didnât know what to do and that she would have to ask her manager how much to charge us for an off the market fee.

She asked would I come back tomorrow.

I came back the next day where she told me we would have to pay the market rate of the apartment until the 9th, which was $350.

Feeling this price was unfair because we werenât even asked to sign the lease until the 9th.

I asked to speak to her management.

He basically didnât budge and I asked him for his managerâs phone number.

The leasing agent then asked me to sign an agreement.

Not willing to sign to the agreed terms, I refused until I was able to speak with upper management.

I placed a total of 5 calls within two days with no response.

I then receive a call from the apartment complex tell me that they were still charging me for more days because I didnât sign the written agreement.

Even though I give them verbal conformation that we didnât want the apartment on the 9th.

We faxed them a letter telling them that we wasnât interested as of the 9th they still charged us for the two days while I was trying to get a hold of management and sent me a check for 28 dollars out of the originally $550 dollars.

They are unfair and inconsiderate I personally will never lease an Avalon property every again.
