Good place but some things to watch for

I moved here in August after not seeing it and reading reviews (checked out many places in Fairfax and this one fell into my lap). The good news is that the rent came down some (after I moved in). Pretty decent prices for a good apartment, in a nice neighborhood. It's close to all of the things you need except a Metro station. It's quiet, clean and friendly.
The bad, so far, has been that maintenance is slow. One night, I had a toilet issue and was told just to turn it off so that the maintenance guys didn't have to come out.
The other bad thing is that everyone I've talked to in my building has cell-phone issues. Some complexes are killers, some aren't - seems like Autumn Woods (now known as Avalon at Fair Lakes) is a cell phone killer.

I second the cell phone problem. I called Verizon and they conducted a drive-by. They got the signal on the road outside the apartment and as far as they are concerned, I didn't have a problem.
Also note that this complex has had reports of peeping Toms and car break-ins. Not sure if these incidents are limited to Autumn Woods or have occurred at other complexes.
