A decent place

Overall this a good place for a good price. I moved in in July 2007. Its close to several malls and movie theaters (walking to Fairfax Towne Center is definitely feasible), as well as 7100 and Rt 66. The staff is decent, as is the maintenace crew (overall a B or B-). They have done a good job of improving the problems they've had with the trash, but its not perfect yet.
The area around is quite beautiful, and the complex OWNS a neighboring man-made lake that's great for walking, running and biking around. There are few lovely park-like walking paths, and a really nice battlefield memorial park at the corner of Monument and West Ox.
The parking could be better, and DEFINITELY be sure that you get your permanent tags before the temporary ones they give you expire, or you WILL be towed and you will have to pay for it. The guest parking situation in the complex leaves much to be desired, although guests can park on the nearby sidestreet.
There are families with children living here, but there aren't many of them and the kids overall are well-behaved. I haven't noticed too many wild parties either - so overall its a quiet place. Even its proximity to Fairfax County Parkway isn't that annoying, thanks to a thick patch of trees between the complex and the road.
Having looked into a number of apartment complexes in the Fairlakes/Fair Oaks area, I would say this one is the best. Its cheaper than the two new Camdens that have been built, and the grounds are MUCH nicer. My second choice would be The Hermitage, which has better grounds and more parking (but is older and probably a little less convenient to get into and out of during rush hour).
