Can't wait to move out of this place

What first attracted me to Camden Fairlakes was their nicely sized loft floorplans. Although the apartment is nice on the inside, that is the only positive about this place. The first thing I noticed about Camden was the mountain of trash that accumulates at the entrance to the complex. They have one trash compactor located by the entrance for all of the residents to use, and this is not a small complex. Aside from the countless health code issues, this is a huge eyesore and it baffles me as to why they would not want to remedy the situation. Do you really want the first thing prospective residents see to be a giant disgusting mountain of garbage' Camden's brilliant solution to this problem was to hire a company to provide trash service to the community rather than to add more compactors. Now we are paying $36 per month for someone to come by and pick up our trash from outside our door and carry it to the compactor for us. This solves nothing. Additionally, participation is mandatory for everyone, but not everyone can take advantage of the service. Trash can only be placed outside your door between the hours of 6-8 pm Sun-Thurs. If you place trash outside at any other time you receive a notice that you will be fined $25 per bag. For people who work during the evening hours it is impossible to use the trash service, yet you still have to pay the ridiculous sum of $36 per month for it.
Secondly, the management staff is not helpful. We have dealt with two cycles of bad neighbors that continuously play loud music, slam doors, run up and down the halls all night, and have constant parties. We have delivered several written complaints to the management staff which have been ignored and as such have been forced to resort to calling the police and reporting noise violations. Furthermore, when turning in complaints, the management staff states that the resident you are complaining about will receive a copy of the complaint, yet they force you to include your apt. # on the complaint in order for them to accept it. This is completely inappropriate given that this could let to retaliation from the other party.
My third issue with Camden is their ridiculous heating and cooling system. For some reason every time the season changes you have to call maintenence to come out and switch the water supply to the unit in order to have heat or A/C. For instance, in order for the A/C to work they have to come out to turn off the hot water supply and turn on the cold water supply, you can never have both. Plus, the units are not large enough to cool the larger size apartments. In the summer, particularly in the loft style apartments, the temperature never drops below 78. It is unbearably hot and we even had to purchase a window unit for our bedroom in order to sleep at night.
They also have ridiculous leasing terms for shorter term leases. We would have liked to have moved after the first year but didn't have time to find a new place in time. We thought we could pay a slighter higher rate for a month to month lease to buy a little more time until we found out the monthly rate would be $3200! I had to call to make sure it wasn't a typo, but it was correct and we ended up stuck another year. Needless to say we will not be renewing our lease this time, and I do not recommend Camden Fair Lakes to anyone looking for an apartment in this area.
