Didn't even get past the leasing office!

My wife and I happened to find this complex while on an apt. search last weekend. Having dealt w/ very friendly leasing consultants at the other complexes we had visited that day, we didn't hesitate to walk in to inquire about the rent, etc. We were let down immediately by the three very stiff and cold women at the office. I'm not one to complain about dumb people putting up dumb attitudes, but these women rubbed me the wrong way. You would have thought that my wife and I had walked in to beg for a free apartment! Didn't want to show us around, didn't want to give specific answers on installing a satellite dish, answered all our questions yes or no. We didn't feel the need to stick around, so we got up and left immediately. They didn't even bother to shake our hands and say goodbye. I'm not one to be petty and pick on trivial things, but the leasing staff provides the first impression of the whole management, and these women failed mightily. The complex looked rather ordinary compared to the other complexes in the area, so I don't know why those ladies felt the need to look down on us.

I agree whole heartedly about the attitudes of the leasing agents at just about all of the Archstone apartment complexes. Having lived at two Archstone properties (formerly at Springfield Station - expensive as all freaking get out and currently in a sister property in Herndon), I have had my share (and fill) of lackadaisical leasing agents that work for Archstone. Here at Archstone Worldgate, they close the information center/leasing office 10 minutes earlier than the time that is posted on the sign outside. So if some poor unlucky resident comes in after a long day of work (and apparently late day of work) trying to claim a package left by the mail man or some overnight carrier, I have actually witnessed residents being turned away and told to return on the next business day to pick up their package. Oh so what, they feel like they are being inconvenienced to walk their happy asses back to the freaking room where they keep the unclaimed packages to give it to the rightful owner. It's a freaking trip man. Most of the residents here are fortunate enough to be able to walk to work, since we are surrounded by several huge office building. So by the time they walk to they homes, get the notice that they have a package at the leasing office and run over there to pick it up, it might be too late, that day. And speaking of residents walking to work???good for you, but use the sidewalks you idiots! That???s what they are there for. I don???t think anyone driving in and out of there should be held liable if your dumb ass gets hit for walking in the middle of the dayum street when there are plenty of walkways and side walks for you to safely use. When I think of Archstone/Charles E. Smith, I think of prestige. But when you are paying $1280.00 a month for a fairly modern apartment, the last thing I think about is a ROACH INFESTATION or noisy tenants from above and below. I am pleased to announce that I no longer have a roach problem...knock wood. But in order to go from, not wanting to enter my kitchen for fear of what would scurry away, to the normal state my kitchen is in now, it took a phone call to the Health Department, an investigation and a warning to the rental office to get them to treat the whole building as opposed to those that just got annoyed enough to ask to have their units treated. From what I understand, there is a certain nationality of people that don't believe in killing living things. And from what I know, it is the majority of the tenants that live at Archstone Worldgate. That's all good and all, but ROACHES ARE HIGHLY UNSANITARY people and in order to get them in your home, you have to live like a dayum pig...so if you don't want to kill them, CLEAN YOUR DAYUM APARTMENT MAN!! I have had to call the police on my neighbors downstairs for loud music/tv surround system...so loud that it makes my floor vibrate!! So loud that the police had to bang on the door 3 times before someone answered the dayum door. (By the way, a noise complaint is any noise that is bothering you and it doesn???t matter what time of day it is according to the Town of Herndon police???I asked before I made my complaint.) I had to file a formal complaint in writing here at Archstone Worldgate, but at Springfield Station, I simply had to make a phone call and if the resident received more that 2 complaints, they would get a notice to vacate. Another thing that I really hate is the inconsistency from property to property. There should be a standard set of guidelines across the board. Springfield Station did live up to the prestige of the Archstone name and were the most responsive when it came to my requests and concerns. And what's up with the lack of prompt trash removal from the trash dumps?? They charge us an extra $5.00/month for trash removal...and you still see trash bags piled up on the side walk outside of the dumpster like we live in NYC or something! I only moved here because my boyfriend and I broke up before the lease was up and instead of paying 2 months rent to liquidate the lease, we were able to mutually transfer to another sister property and this was the only place with availability in my price range at the time. Man, I can go on and on...all I can say is that this experience has motivated me to become a homeowner (and I don't mean a freakin??? condo either) more than ever. Here???s an idea for those that are so ready to go that they will do anything short of paying two months worth of rent. Transfer to another Archstone property, even if you are in the middle of your current lease. Once you get your new lease, you will automatically start over at the beginning with a brand new lease. So therefore, you will get the same 30 day satisfaction guarantee that allows you to move out and get out of your lease without any penalties and no questions asked. Yes it is a hassle to move, but hey???you do what you gotta do. That might be a good idea for someone that is trying to buy a home and move out before their lease is up???just put your stuff in storage so you don???t have to move it from place to place. |
