The Elms at Oakton is truly a great complex to live in. The apartments are very nice-looking and modern and I agree with the other reviewers that the maintenance team is SUPER-FAST at getting things patched up. With their level of maintenance, you will feel well taken care of! The staff puts on catered dinners and parties from time-to-time, which is a small but much appreciated gesture. The fitness center is great - if I didn't have access to it, I would have had to shell out $$ to join a local gym - so that's a bonus. Now, on to the downsides:
1. It is on the pricey side.
2. A lot of George Mason students live here, so be prepared for the occasional LOUD Thursday or Sunday night party.
3. Although The Elms is located in an ultra-safe area of town, they do unfortunately experience some of the same low-level crime as other lesser complexes. Most recently, several cars were broken into and the owners' stereos, CDs and various other items were stolen. I guess this is no reflection on the actual complex (as the crime was beyond their control) but as I was one of the victims, I thought I'd mention it.
