Lived here going on three years. First apartment I was in, when the lease was up, I told the leasing office that I wasn't willing to pay the increased rent and that I wanted more space; so they offered me a two bedroom with a sunroom for cheaper than I was paying for the one bedroom. Bad things about the old apartment: old appliances (the model we were shown had nice new appliances, not so with the one we were given. Couldn't see the one I was moving into b/c it was still occupied), cockroaches, parking spots were incredibly narrow next to the building I was in. But I dealt with all that b/c it was pretty much the cheapest rent around the Fair Lakes area.
The new apartment I am in now, is much better. Bigger living room, bigger bathrooms, newer appliances, full-sized washer/dryer etc. Though I should caveat that by saying I was promised brand new appliances when I decided on this particular unit, but they never followed through with that. I asked about it a couple of times and was told they had been ordered, but I never got any. Decided not to push the issue since the appliances I have are still pretty decent. Also, the first summer I lived there, I had a big problem with ants in the kitchen and in the washer/dryer room. After I sprayed all the spots they were coming in, and taped up some holes in the wall behind my stove, I haven't seen any the last two summers. Oh, and they put a lamppost right outside my window to illuminate the walkway at night. Unfortunately, it also illuminates my bedroom. So I had to throw up a black comforter to block out the light, b/c my blinds weren't doing the trick. And, in the beginning I did have a number of things go wrong with the washer/dryer and my air conditioning, but maintenance was always prompt to come and fix the issue (within a few hours of calling). I think they are pretty personable and friendly. I have noticed that they tend to leave the front door open though, and I have had to close it myself on occasion. As far as the leasing office, I have always found the ladies working there to be extremely courteous and friendly.
So, there is good and bad. But, generally, the bad hasn't outweighed the good. I like my apartment, and I like the price compared to what I would probably pay elsewhere.
