The Gates Of Fair Lakes is a great place to be. I have lived here for the last 4 years.
Pros:
The neighborhood is very dog, child, and family friendly.
There is a lot to do in the local area (Shopping, bars, gyms, places of worship, schools etc...)
You will find people walking their dogs at all hours, which means there is not a propensity for crime.
Close to several major roads (66, 50, 29, 7100)
The area is really growing. (Every time I look up, there are more things to do, and more coming)
5 miles to Vienna Metro.
The residents are friendly and extreemly helpful (While trying to move a couch into my Apartment, I was freely offered help by two seperate residents.
Layout of the Apartment is nice. Big bedroom, nioce kitchen, large bathroom, nice scenery on the patio.

Cons:
The management leaves something to be desired. If you have a problem, they are very hit or miss once very helpful and once not so much. Make sure you can get in touch with your landlord, as they will likely have the responsibility of fixing most problems witin the condo.
Parking is not abundant (If one is not careful, you may find your car towed after 7:00pm if you park in a visitor spot without a parking tag).
