I lived in this apartment complex for seven months-March through October 2005. Due to the completely unsanitary conditions of the apartment, I was forced to break my lease and move. Not only were there roaches EVERYWHERE, but also there were complaints of bed bugs. In the seven months that I lived here, exterminators came to my apartment eleven times. In addition to the infestation, there is a huge amount of immigrants living at the complex, most of whom all live together in the same unit. I'm talking about eight or more people living in a two bedroom apartment. Conditions at the complex are completely unacceptable. I have written to the Department of Health regarding Layton Hall apartments. Please take my advice, especially if you are a single woman: STEER CLEAR OF LAYTON HALL APARTMENTS! THE CHEAP RENT WILL END UP COSTING YOU MORE IN THE END!!

As an "immigrant" I am stunned to read this comment, and whoever you are, I am glad that you're not my neighbor any more. Everyone in my building has been incredibly nice to my family, even if we don't speak the same language or share the same cultures. And, we don't have 8 people living in our apartment, and neither do any of our neighbors. I can't wait to share this with my "immigrant" neighbor who teaches at George Mason University. SHAME ON YOU!

in response to notEinstein4- F*** YOU go back to your own country. If you want to live in America then you need to share our values and our language. I wouldn't move to France or something and not learn the language because that to me is entirely disrespectful!!

I don't think the problem is immigrants, per se. I think the problem is people living with more than the legal number of tenants in the apartment (I can attest there were two bedrooms with eight people in them) in unsavory conditions. While stereotypically this issue has been attributed to immigrants (The reason for the stereotype comes from America being an individualistic, as opposed to collectivistic country, but we're not here for a Sociology lesson), this is not necessarily the case. I think the poster has a very relevant point if one just replaces "immigrant" with "tenant" in their post.
